I wish there were more ‘Throw the dice ONCE options’ on DT2.
Stuff I like:
- SRC + YES randomises sample selection amongst all project slots, the randomisation is then fixed
- “CREATE RANDOM LOCKS” in grid or slice machine
- FUNC + AMP + YES to randomise Euclidean, which is then fixed
I’m not really including any permanently random (randomise forever) options like TRIG probability. While I’m sure I will continue to find uses for them, they don’t offer me the possibility of keeping the variations I find I like, which is what I’m talking about here.
Stuff I’d view as welcome improvements or additions
- A variation on SRC + YES which randomises only the project slot, or at least excludes STRT/LEN/LOOP which often selects a silent or near silent part of the sample. Or perhaps the STRT/LEN/LOOP could be more intellgently randomised ?
- Random selection of sample from a folder (versus from the project slots)
I can do this by scripting sample selection on my computer first (or buying software for that purpose), but that puts a huge delay in the discovery loop versus doing it on the Digitakt. I enjoy the cycle: keypress, don’t like, keypress, don’t like, keypress, ooh that’s just what I want.
Thoughts ? Is this just me ?
EDIT: added as a standalone topic rather than a feature request because it’s not yet a fully formed idea, and there may be other approaches I haven’t considered
