The things that get me excited:
- it looks like each oscillator has wavefolder, to the left from triangle wave;
- there are āENV ASSIGNā buttons for each envelope;
And bonus:
- different filter modes;
- āRES BASSā button.
Now: I am not sure how the filter sounds, because from my experience Moogās high pass filters donāt sound the way I like, and I love high pass filters. But that wavefolding, that could be driven by different envelopes, is something that could convince me to get one, depending on price.
Looks nice to me. Seems to have a bit of Sub-37 DNA, but also a multi mode filter and curveballs like wavefolders. Could be a winner.
I also like the video, pretty much in line with previous marketing bumf from them - Moog One clip with Sakamoto is still my fave tho. Imho the usual #discourse around Moog/TE got very stale a long, long time ago.
You could be right. But thenā¦companies are currently increasing prices throughout the bank. Some are just doing it because they can and the customer will suck it up anyway and it is a Moog.
But yeah, maybe youāre right. Good that I donāt own a Monologue. āHun, we need to buy a Korg synth, because I really wanted to buy that Moog synth and I lost a bet.ā
Maybe I can get my wife to help me bake a realistic Monologue cake. Always wanted to make a synth cake!
Or it will be $999.99 and I lost anyway.
You know what? I hope you win! I really like it so far. Not many surprises sound-wise, Iād think and the interface seems like a ton of fun! Pair it with some fx and Iām sure itāll rock!
Seems like a good companion for an Octatrack! Keys and all the knobs to play around, sample and mangle. Nice.
Probably underrated to finally have a button for bass compensation on a Moog. Itās so weird to me that their synths are probably the best for making basses, but resonance will kill the bass.
My guess: $1399.
Aesthetically, Iām not really into it. I genuinely think the Sub25 is one of the best looking synths ever. Iād hang a pic of it on my wall. This looks ⦠fine.
Now I see it, thanks! Was wondering where you guys see wavefolders there^^
Interesting implementationā¦Itās one knob that blends the waveshape and past triangle it works as a wavefolder. I wonder why they chose a classic wavefolder design and not one that can fold every waveshape. That combined with blendable waveshapes would make it so much more flexible.
Little Phatty is my favorite moog design. This (messenger) is generic looking to me. Like novation ( ) or something.
Novatia is my favorite European travel destination.
Hey! You are welcome!
Regarding your question. From the classic shapes - theoretically - only triangle folds with audible effect. Similarly: sine (but that is second order wave shape in VCOs, being derivative of triangle). Remind you: theoretically! Folding saw would ātrianglateā (neologism for best description) it. And square would just attenuate it.
Now: my experience with PolyBrute suggest that either most waveforms there are far from mathematically correct (which is true, but the extend of it is crucial here), or wavefolding has its own concessions.
Anyway: I donāt think they would reject idea of dedicated knob just based on aboveās toughts. Same way as Arturia did not. I believe that it is done for sake of simplicity, the way it is done to the right of square shape for pulse width. And I find this choice quite clever as yielding most obvious results.

Of Mice and Men is a novella.
Anyway, I like it - I always thought the phatty series was ugly.
My first Moog synth! It was a lot of fun.
I watched the teaser on YouTube. I actually thought it looked pretty nice in the video.
Yeah, ew. I much prefer the new look.
Yeah thatās peak Axel Hartmann swoopy plastic bad taste. Might as well paint it yellow.
As others have noted, what appears to be resonance bass compensation has me quite intrigued. This is the one of the only times a Moog has ever actually interested me.
It looks like itās a moog version of the mpc key 37
Resonance on my Sirin sounded so good
Thereās bound to be some kind of deep religious reason to them choosing to not compensate on past synths, sticking to a design aestethic of sorts that inmusic has now told them to bin xD
