Not surprised at all. I have some friends moving to Asheville and the Real Estate cost is very high. The property will no doubt be converted to apartments for a lot of money. Nice building.
I thought theyâd keep the building, i assume thatâs where the local factory they said theyâd keep is located? Just shutting down the factory outlet and thus saving on staff? Or am i missunderstanding things?
It sounds like they are just closing the store, but the factory will remain. I wonder if they have plans to expand production, or more offices, or something else into that space.
Not sure how it connects, but this should be read together with the engineering/executive office move to DT Asheville that jhaler reported on recently. There is information on the manufacturing facility in that article too.
I think as the article i linked suggests, that closing the store may be preliminary to selling Moog synths at the Moogseum.
Makes a lot of sense as a way to support the foundation. I know in the recent past the foundation has auctioned off donated historic Moog gear. This also would mean more people going to the Moogseum.
It definitely is a positive that Moog/inMusic mentioned the Moogseum in their press release.
I do that now. All my Moog synths have an external audio input so any audio, including audio from my samplers, can be run through those Moog filters, amp and filter envelopes with modulation and including a stereo delay on the Matriarch
No doubtâŚitâd be super if they made an S/Z series like or mpc with them still though.
when I visited last year all the synths were quite dusty and it bummed me out. like a $10k One was covered in dust. so I wonder how often people use em. and the massive Moog modular was off limits. they did have a lot of other manufacturerâs stuff too though. and a lot of merch and smaller gift-like items. pain in the ass to find parking though.
also I swear I saw on MW months back that they had moved manufacturing to an industrial park. so it seems theyâre leaving the building entirely.
But thatâs authentic Bob Moog dust. Even dust is high cost in Asheville, i swear i read that right here in this forum.
Iâm still looking for a good source on the Moog factory move.
I was in the Moog store back in May and the person working told me that the store would close in June, corporate is moving downtown and manufacturing is moving to Weaverville (just north of Asheville).
According to the jhaler linked article :
In another change, Moogâs manufacturing will expand at its current Weaverville location north of Asheville, a move that Richardson said will enhance assembly and warehousing capabilities and is more convenient for staff who build the synthesizers.
expansion
well thereâs this:
apparently thatâs the factory and storage. and the R&D is in another building.
Yeah that was in the Citizen Times article above.
Synthesizer maker Moog Music has said it will shift its product design, development and engineering staff from the current Broadway St. offices just north of downtown to the 1939 Art Deco building at 14 O. Henry Ave. ⌠Its first floor is now the home of record maker and cafe Citizen Vinyl.
Is it just the manufacturing of some models like the modular and the Minimoog reissues ? And all the rest will be made in Asia ?
