Really?? That’s a strange behavior from them. I used to buy via the Elektron assistance service encoders for Machinedrum and Monomachine to replace them back in 2017, they should be able to direct you to some retailer shop in US. Did they change their politics about electronic spare parts?
We would like to acknowledge that we have received your request and a ticket has been created.
At the moment due to high workload, Elektron Support cannot assist with general setup.
We recommend consulting the product manual, or heading over to elektronauts.com, our wonderful community. It is an active and friendly forum, full of plenty of knowledge and a whole load of eagerness to help, where such topics are frequently discussed.
If you find a solution to your question before we’ve had a chance to get back to you, we would be very grateful if you could let us know by replying to this mail.
Thats what they sent me
Eventually, elektron staff should contact you by e-mail… I created a ticket in January, asking about sending my Monomachine in for repair… I got an initial reply and I responded… I’ve been waiting a little over a month. I’ve tried following up, by sending another e-mail, but… still waiting… so, you’re not the only one
Ok, It seems to me like a kind of automatic reply so they didn’t even check your problem at this stage. If you are in a hurry you should search around this forum or at Muff Wiggler to understand exactly which trigger are used for MnM and where to purchase them. Eventually Mouser or some related store might have them in stock.
legacy users not a priority anymore. i mean i get it, legacy schmegacy.
edit: it says mk1, but i’d guess if they work for octa these will be fine across silver boxes. happy to hear chime in from someone who’s bought, swapped out etc.
nother edit: fact there’s 4 left sets my anxiety racing. they are listed as official replacements, has anyone got original part number?
Elektron should definitely know what exact parts were used for what, and if they’re still being produced or there’s still stock those parts should be available from the big electronics suppliers.
If one doesn’t exist already I think it might be a good idea to make a thread dedicated to compiling all the part names/numbers for things people will likely need to replace in the future, for all Elektron products.
would be good to add reliable link for trig replacements
Ah good. Is there also a thread for the Octatracks?
they’re not legacy yet as far as i’m aware. but maybe good to consolidate parts in an octa repair thread as will be needed as time marches on
been said before but there’s probably some demand if anyone can create a +drive alternative.
i know they once installed them for the later mk1-UWs (might be wrong here).
I’d say you categorised your request incorrectly. General setup is more about how to use the device. You are looking for spare parts. These are quite different from a support perspective. It might pay to try another request with a more appropriate category.
No, it’s an automated reply, every new support ticket gets that same automatic response… like an out-of-office greeting for an e-mail account, this is elektron’s version of, “Hi, I’m away from work right now, but I’ll get back to you…”
OP, please don’t open another ticket - that’ll just be another thing for the support staff at elektron to deal with.
Like waftlord says, I think there’s some priortization going on, and users of discontinued products are going to the bottom of the list… not to cast aspersions or project or assume any sort of malice, I just think a month is quite a long time to wait for a reply, from any business… But that’s why they send that automatic e-mail, so that people don’t freak out from getting no response and then go sending three dozen e-mails to try to follow up…
Who knows what’s going on? Not me… but this isn’t the kind of support I’ve gotten used to, elektron staff have always been top-notch in the past.
I’m hoping this is just a rough patch for them, and things will turn around soon.
