I couldn’t remember if I’d posted the link to my Weekly Beats page for this in the Monomachine love thread, so apologies if you’ve seen this already.
I made this as a bit of an experiment to see how far I could get away from the “standard” Monomachine sound.
100% Monomachine. Playing with extreme gain staging using 5 effects machines in series on one source. It was cut from the end of a longer session, but there were parts earlier in the recording where the encoders were making a noise as I turned them. I really like the way it turned out; I think I might have to make a few more tracks like this and release a weird blurry sound design album.
oh and an edit: as a happy accident from making this track, I figured out how Autechre made the fuzzy sounds at the end of The Trees from Untilted… something that has puzzled me for years
