Mono reverb pedals

I recently sprung for the very affordable Walrus Fundamental Ambient and realized I’ve kind of been limiting myself thinking I needed stereo hardware reverbs. I don’t even always use the stereo output of a stereo pedal, I generally only use hardware reverb per track, and have plenty of good stereo reverbs in the box.

Anyway, I had previously used the TC Electronic Mimiq ADT pedal to split my guitar signal in two and process them separately, but now I’m using Simplifier 2 for that, and it occurred to me I could use Mimiq to create a stereofied version of any mono reverb pedal. It works really nicely. Test below, first dry from the Simplifier, then with Ambient, then with Ambient + Mimiq:

It makes me wonder if I’ve been shortchanging myself missing some cool/unique sleeper mono reverbs. I’d like to give Dark World a try, any others you like?

Fathom is the one.

How are you doing this? You’re splitting it after the pedal?

I have a Pladask Draume, can make some really interesting (if only mono) reverb textures. Quite a hands-on pedal.

I’m using this on my sub37 for live shows.
I like it a lot and it’s got the sustain foot switch option which is great for transition or noise/drone between songs.

There are lots of great mono reverbs. I’m surprised how much I like the jhs 3 series hall reverb, simple but sounds great.
I have one of those old RadioShack tabletop reverb units. I don’t know that I’d say it sounds good exactly but it’s unique and I like it. It’s analog (really short bbd) and at its longest settings you can hear the individual delays.
My favorite reverb pedal for the last year or two has been the surfy bear compact. Absolutely beautiful but it’s just a really good spring reverb so not a lot of folks are into that sound and the limitations that come with it. I bought it for guitar but I think everything sounds good through it. I felt like it was a forever pedal but I’m pretty tempted to sell it and get the new deluxe version…or mod mine to add one or two of those features.

Anybody like Afterneath?

I had a clone of it (afterneath) for a while. It sounded like the demos of the real deal. Good pedal but I traded it to a buddy for a compressor. I found it interesting and a lot of fun to tweak and explore but I never really found a sweet spot.

afterneath is a cool one, does some great granular-y stuff and i use it on claps a lot. dark world is also cool, but i’ve been getting more mileage out of a keeley loomer, which has some kevin shields inspired mono reverbs and 3 fuzz circuits where you can switch the order (reverb > fuzz or fuzz > reverb)

Had one of these for a year, loved it and wish I hadn’t sold it.

I also really like the Digitech Polara - I’ve had one for a few years and I use it frequently.
