Modular Kick Drum Samples

Hi All,

Just made a ton (around 60) of modular kick drum samples using my modular.

Hope they are of some use, a text file in the folder explains the different methods used to create them.

They are in two sets one 24Bit and one 16Bit (for the machinedrum users)

Cheers

Ross

Just made a quick scan through these files and this is a nice collection of very usable kicks.

These will be used!

Thanks for sharing :+1:

Thanks mush

Nice one Ross
I shall check these out 2moz.
What mod rig are you using?
Just about to venture into the land of patch cables myself

All: Yr welcome. I had a quick play with them in maschine and am pretty happy.

Blue: I don’t have one… Yet. I can make one out of one of my filters though but I plan to add either the doepfer or if I can get one sh the make noise moddemix.

What are you planning to get?

Really like the Buchla influenced Make a Noise stuff! This is based around the Shared System with a few changes. Don’t really need any more sequencing having the Cirklon & A4 so I’ve scrapped Rene & Pressure Points & I’m gonna go with a Cyclebox which is a digital OSC, (DPO is analog), with crazy wavetable & wave folding options. Mixer will be Intellijel DubMix.
Yes I’m about to disappear down the rabbit hole for sure

= G2 modular?

I´ve noticed your contributions at electro-music.com (big thanks from me, who´s such a novice in synthesis). If these are G2 modular, would you mind share that patch (as I´ve got an expanded G2 engine)?

I would love to learn the concept. I´ve just only used the drum module in the modular but not always been satisfied with the results I´m getting. As I´m often missing the aggressive omph (for lack of better description) without them being obsessively boosted in low freqs and thus becoming muddy and with less definition because of that…

Blue: That looks crazy. Certainly a “West Coast” system.

No not G2, I sold mine some time ago but i do miss it, great for creating algo and sequencer noodle stuff. These were made on my hardware modular.
In terms of creating kicks on the G2, you are probably best using a sine osc, two decay envelopes, one for pitch modulation and the other for the amp.

If I can find any of my old patch files, I did have a few kick drum making patches, I’ll post them up for you.

Have you seen Sound on Sounds Synth Secrets seris? The first sections are all about drum synthesis and it can nearly all be done on the G2:

Yeah, for sure, East Coast doesn’t float my boat really! I mean, some great sounding kit but doesn’t offer the flexibility for exploration that I’m after. Hate keyboards too!
Let you know when I have it, your welcome to pop round for a play if you fancy it?

Would love to.

Have you ordered the Cyclobox? I thought the WMD GWS was amazing but it does quantize its pitch input which might be annoying, although there is an ever increasing range of interesting digital osc modules.

My next osc will be digital for sure but my upgrade plan at the minute is for more utility stuff to get more out of what I have, the Wasp filter (A124) and a Gozinta, so I can stick some dirty digital monomachine waves through it.

Cool, will try that out!

If you find any old files, I´d be grateful. If you don´t mind sharing them in the files section, others may benefit as well.

I think I actually downloaded all PDFs I could find from that SoS series some months ago, but have yet to find time to go thru them. I did look into some of them while downloading. But I don´t recall the first sections being drum synthesis (as I probably weren´t looking for that back then). But now I certainly will. Thanks for the tip!

Happened across a 2nd hand Cyclebox that’s mint down at London modular, who have been very helpful btw, so they’re holding that for me till my other bits get in from the States.
Yeah the WMD Gamma looks really cool, lots of FX routing options & the Bit Flip appeals
TBH the Euro scene is just getting better & better, there are soooooo many possibilities now. You can research. & read manuals forever but eventually you’ve got to bite the bullet & dive in! Hope I’ve bitten the right one!

I spent two and a half days in schneiders and a ton of research beforehand and still didn’t get it quite right, though part of that was stock availability.

WD on the SH cyclebox, they’re not exactly common and it will take ages to explore its possibilities.

I just recently got a Make Noise set of modules. Great stuff! Couldn’t imagine it without the pressure points though. The gate trigger is awesome, and the pressure out makes me feel like part of the machine! Very cool! and there’s this

but anyway.
Cyclebox looks interesting indeed! I’d been looking at Mutable Instruments’ Braids for digital but this makes me second guess that. Verbos Harmonic Osc is also on the hit list

Very cool!

Thanks

No doubt pressure points is awesome beans! Also Rene looks loads of fun but had to draw the line somewhere & having Cirklon covers most things I’m gonna need for a while.
How are you getting on with Maths AtaRaxis? Can’t wait to get by hands on that beast!!!

For the lurkers, I’ve stuck it on my google drive too:

Actually I opted for two separate Functions instead of Maths. I dunno if I regret that or not. I’m hoping to sell some gear soon and fund a System Concrete mostly because I want the Phonogene, but it does come with Maths too

Thanks, this is great! I’ve been putting together some sample chains made with my modular as well. Any requests on what people would like to see put together?
