Model:Cycles Feature Requests Thread

Yes, seen like that, adding a machine would also be welcome, perhaps more suitable and simpler. I find the models restrained and it’s a shame…

I’d personally like to see a LITTLE more software integration. The per-project settings is kind of a hassle, I have a template but yet still would prefer setting Global Settings. USB Audio and Bitwig is a no go with Windows 11, I’d like to see that rectified (if I’m mistaken by all means correct me!). Like a lite version of Overbridge would be killer along with Global Settings.

PLEASE GIVE US SOME KIND OF ATTACK PARAMETER PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

I’d even be okay with a menu parameter, I don’t ever need to perform with my attack envelopes so it’s fine behind some menu diving.

if it’s in a seperate menu then you can use whatever knob is applicable or the most useful.

can just make it 0-127, with 0 being as-is with no attack envelope, and 127 being equivalent to 127 decay, and maybe the ability to p-lock it per trig or something?

shit I’d even take it as a Velocity Modulation source

Must have been updated in firmware, it’s now per-pattern (on the M:S at least)

  • portamento
  • LFO destinations towards all tracks. Could do so much with one track having 5 extra LFOs…
  • more than one destination for the velocity mod (akin to rytm implementation)
  • another rytm feature i was surprised to discover isn’t present on the M:C is that; lock trigs with retrig data won’t affect a retrig trigs timing after it’s been triggered. on rytm i love setting a retrig and then having some conditional trigless trigs after to modulate the original retrigs timing. (perhaps i’ve overlooked something?)
  • user pointed track muting/triggering. (setting in track menu to mute/choke chosen tracks on trig/multi trigger options (could be almost like setting up a mini poly chord synth by chain triggering x tracks)
  • scale folding for chromatic mode
  • chain storage for quick recall
  • shocked to not see slides available, would change so much… (but accept it’s not gonna happen, hence not mentioning attack either, although i just did…)

that’s about it, pretty predictable and mostly standard requests having perused this thread.
new machines would be lovely. but felt good shouting into the void.
on face value usability if swift, fun to perform with, the sound is lovely and huge, pumping through ah+fx gets wild quickly.

edit: latched mute mode exist?

2 weeks ago You gave us a dispatch, then a week ago a tips and tricks, so…

IDK … there are a couple of features I think would be useful but I honestly wouldn’t be a tiny bit surprised if nothing ever happens on the firmware front.

that’s their loss though, plenty of M:C on the second hand market. With the price increase nobody going to bother buying it new when the product has been supposedly left with the same shortcomings for years.

Them remembering people that these products still exist recently really did not create any other reaction than people asking/expecting for a firmware update anyways.

Launch price was $299.

Available now on Thomann for $309. If you’re in the UK Anderton’s are banging them out for £299.

Prices have definitely settled back down, things got a bit silly for a while. I wouldn’t expect them to do the crazy $200 sale again, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them drop to about $250 or so around Christmas.

I’ll always have a soft spot for the M:C. I don’t like buying gear on the promise that it’ll get updates down the road and I think the M:C is the closest Elektron have come in a while to releasing a feature complete piece of gear from day one.

none of this matter when the official elektron price is 399 USD (as seen on the website) and the second hand price is half of that.

What you are seeing is probably leftover stock that needs to be cleared (ence the lower price point) which would explain the latest videos about the models. Unfortunately still no reason to get them new for this much money when they are everywhere in second hand market for 150-200 dollars.

Concur. It’s not like the box it was delivered in contained a promise: ‘We will surprise you with new features via firmware update once a year’.

Indeed it is.

Stuff is almost always wildly expensive on the Elektron website.

The reality is that you can still buy brand new units for pretty much the launch price.

If it was leftover stock needing to be cleared, it would likely be advertised as some sort of sale price, which it isn’t on Andertons or Thomann it’s just listed as £299 like that’s the normal price. Because that is the current normal price.

Also, if it was leftover stock, why would Andertons be saying that there’s another shipment due in on the 31st?

There was a point a few months ago where prices did seem to be mostly in the mid to high 300s, but they do seem to have come down to more reasonable levels again, whether or not that is reflected on Elektron’s web store doesn’t really seem to matter, as prices on there are routinely ridiculous.

as I said, none of this matters when u can find second hand units for 200 USD. No reason to get brand new product when there is so little support for it. Especially when you can still get specific parts to replace anything broken directly from Elektron even when you buy a second hand unit.

Would not advice anybody to buy a M:C new even at 299 £ .

Excellent 3 year warranty notwithstanding, obviously.

For me, it’s excellent value at £299, a very complete instrument, that makes sounds that are really different to any other device I have heard. Well worth the extra to get something with a warranty as well.

M:C was my first Elektron box, so I’m partial to it. The limitations of it forced me to think a bit to accomplish my goals (which is great!), but ultimately led me to get a Digitone to really control stuff.

Even though M:C tries to be a knob per function device, a lot of the sound design I do on it has me menu diving. So it would be fine if Elektron added additional functionality buried in menus.

Attack control, portamento, another melodic engine, would all be welcome. But I’m not expecting anything from Elektron.

After 6 month of extensive use, I’m working on a live set for December on m:c only, I’m very happy with it, but I would be even more happy with attack and glide parameters

Was just about to post this as a feature request for the Elektron sequencer - for performance this would be so good

MIDI machine. It feels silly to neuter the elektron sequencing by having fixed midi CC for the macros and such limited midi potential. There’s 6 tracks, so I would happily change out a sound for a dedicated midi machine where you can assign the macros.

Everything about the Models Serie is purposefully limited so you dont get too much bang for your bucks. From the amount of LFOs, the lack of any ADSR, the very limited number of machines on the Cycles, the lack of scales despite having a spot on the track menu to add them, the fixed Midi CC, the fixed velocity setting for pads…

Unfortunately they’re still selling out the Model:Cycles so I wouldnt hold my breath for any update any time soon.
