Mixer Recommendation Analog Rytm MkII + Digitakt + Digitone

Hello, what analog mixer would you recommend for a live set up with Analog Rytm MkII, Digitakt and Digitone? Would be great if we could also record with the mixer. Thanks a lot!

This is what I use live:
Zoom LiveTrak L-8 (also comes as L-12 and L-20 which have more inputs)
Channel Strip with endless encoders
Recording of the multitracks to SD Card
multitrack USB audio interface
driving Gain into overdrive sounds good

Sounds good, I will definitely take a closer look on that. Thanx!

For recording mixers, you have a lot of options, but most aren’t super super high quality (stuffing lots of features in a small/cheap thing, same old story). Zoom is as good as anything IMO. I’d do homework about any model you’re looking at and double check that it will have enough inputs.

I have also played shows where the set was recorded on one of these (or a similar model) and it works great:

And this is currently one of the popular options if you’re ok with how tiny it is:

It depends on how much you plan to “play” the mixer—for example, using the filters and sends intensively—but if that’s the case, I would say a DJ mixer is what works best. Personally, I use the PlayDifferently Model 1.4, which I dearly love. It doesn’t have a dedicated REC output/feature, but I find it perfect for live performances. The architecture makes it truly playable, and it sounds fantastic. Not cheap, but personally, I think it’s well worth the price. The only downside is that it doesn’t have mono input options. However, given your needs, this shouldn’t be an issue.

There is also the OTO Machines BĂ©bĂ© ChĂ©rie, which I’ve never tested but seems like a more reasonable alternative and one I would personally also consider.

I have the A&H QuPac, and i actually really like the reverb it has, for me it sounds close enough to a valhalla room. There might be better ones, but for buildin fx, top. If i had to choose again, i would pick it again. Zero complaints. I.e. i would also recommend that you verify you like the buildin FX if any. It can contribute quiete a lot to a good mix.

I use Zoom L12 in the studio, perfect, but on stage its to big. TE TX-6 is excellent for live situations, litte on the fiddly side but excellent effects, I beat sync it easily (bass drum on one single ch).

The Zoom L6 looks interersting but I would love a new small L12 with 32 bits.

Are you using indiouts with the Rytm?
How many aux sends you need? Parametric EQ yes/no?

Hard to recommend anything without knowing specifics

I use an OTO Machines BĂ©bĂ© Cherie right now, its awesome for my needs but lacks aux sends, regular EQs (only has tilt eqs/baxandalls), only 6 (stereo/mono) inputs and everything’s on minijack connectors. So cannot recommend for everyone, not really a general-purpose mixer

Stimming has gone on record saying he thinks Bluebox 1010 has better headroom than the TE TX-6, haven’t tried either myself, but if I’d want a tiny digital box, I’d maybe go with the bluebox

I have both Zoom L-6 and 1010 Music BlueBox as ‘portable’ or temp mixers. I like both. Zoom L-6 is very compact, 6 stereo inputs and very intuitive and easy to use, but one thing I really miss: headphone out is linked to the master volume. So if you want to work in silence, you need the use both aux outs, which I want for external FX.
Bluebox: a lot more features, but more complex and a bit more difficult to use in a live environment. I often change parameters by accident (you need to keep focus).

I used to have the Zoom L-12 and L-20 (a lot bigger, I know) as my main small home studio, but I actually preferred them over my Midas M32R, because of the ease-of-use. For some the Zoom L-8 might be best best compromise.

And no, I don’t have shares in Zoom.

if your budget allows it, a Blue Box. You can also record with it.
