Miserable git's general and non-specific (but very inclusive) whingeing thread - If you've got thoughts about stuff, I'm your guy

I think you should trust yourself way more.
Technicality is not everything, the sum of what you’ve learned is way bigger than a niche spot, and there are high chances you’d recognize patterns in similar position elsewhere.
Or learn new tools that do a similar job as the one you use right now, if needed.

Maybe contacting other companies and plan your future would offload a big weight.
I know uncertainty is hard to face, but you’ll hopefully find that you’re way more capable than you think in the way

I’m with you my friend! Been there for a while myself! Hate the path I’m currently on and it’s looking pretty bleak getting away from it anytime soon.

All we can do is accept the challenge, and don’t let it deter being the best version of ourselves. That’s at least what I keep telling myself!

Change is inevitable, sometimes we have to be patient! Good luck!

I would send resumes and try to meet other employers.

Even if you don’t end up quitting your current job, you’ll know much more about the value of your skillsets as seen by employers.

Maybe you’ll even find out, as @LyingDalai suggested, that the same patterns you already know about apply in different companies with different software landscapes.

You’re not married to your current employer and sending a CV around does not commit you into anything either.

Some greasy teenager was checking me out at the major brand pet store. I’m just buying cat food and he started hassling me to give him a phone number to sign up for their little rewards program. Gave me a shitty attitude when I told him no, thank you. Asked if I like wasting money buying expensive cat food. I just said, yeah I do. I understand asking the question they require you to ask but why do you personally give a shit what I do with my phone number or my money? Fucking weird behavior, I find it real perplexing. I’m buying my cat food online now (she’s a picky little asshole about her food)

I use my ex’s phone number, and i also tell them to add me to their email chain for all news and announcements (with my ex’s email)
(You get the discounts when you type the phone number in when you purchase anyway…so you get the discounts without the annoying shit)

I wondered why I was getting so many spam calls…

We broke up? When?

When I found out you were right handed and like shimmer reverb.

Dealbreakers.

But I’m still down w/ the metric system. I did it for you.

I was working as a butcher when they forced us onto the metric system 25 years ago or whenever it was.

Worst year of my life.

Sounds like a V/VM remix.

I’d watch them slaughter themselves and audience members standing too close on stage re-enacting the main storyline while wearing pig masks, no mistake.

Semi-true story.

while that is annoying indeed, looks like my small rant about the phone number just been dwarfed by some of the IG bullshit I’ve seen online

imagine that… giving full biometric scan just to be able to post pics of cats and meals… fuck that…
also people saying that Facebook started requiring drivers license scan? huh?

Day by day I’m happier that I dropped out of most social media already years ago.
