Miserable git's general and non-specific (but very inclusive) whingeing thread - If you've got thoughts about stuff, I'm your guy (Part 1)

True fact.

50% of people who bought Tonverk only did so in order to measure its latency and complain about it on here.

When surveyed, only 10% of Tonverk owners admitted to making music with it.

Ok I’ll bite

Did you ever buy a brand new car which had misaligned wheels and the lights didn’t work , seat belts were broke and the rear seats were missing from a ‘well respected manufacturer’

No you didn’t .

‘It’s fine to release something that’s not functioning ‘ everybody said … and we all clapped and smiled .

Yeah because those are major safety issues. Last time I checked a bit of midi delay didn’t get any kids killed.

Tbf Tesla made a new car and bits of it are glued on and people can’t escape the battery fires if they crash … and that’s with extensive safety testing within the car industry .
Yes - it was a poor analogy and I don’t really want to open up the Tonverk launch ( or the tr1000 launch ) … or bento launch or s4 launch

Everyone is happy with launch gear — hurray . No problems . As you say it’s just synth stuff , why should anyone expect better … it’s not a threat to life or anything

This is exactly the point. Keeping comparing a synth to a car is a bit hypocritical/trollish.
Now there have been 4 OS and we are still working on another one, and Elektron says they are not finished yet.

My major irk with all of this is that people just gloss over when things are fixed and just keep talking about the botched launch.

Reminds me of No Man’s Sky. Ten years of free updates and people are still like ‘But Sean lied to us at launch!’

But gamers are the worst anyway. Gear enthusiasts are very tame by comparison :stuck_out_tongue:

Personally speaking, I think Elektron deserved a fair bit of ragging over the Tonverk thing. They released a multisampler that couldn’t multisample because the fundamental basic features didn’t work. This wasn’t an issue of obscure bugs being revealed by mass testing, it was a company releasing a product before the basic headline features were in a functioning state.

Did it need wailing and gnashing of teeth? No. But I certainly would have put it back in the box and shipped it back for a refund if I had been an early purchaser.

Not true. I could multisample just fine but because of midi issues some of the samples would have issues.

Come now, basic good faith would be appreciated.

I just wanted to say curry goat rice and peas. that’s all.

Nah. I think we’d all benefit from more accurate descriptions of the actual issues. Because someone will find this post online and parrot it.

This is not at all miserable. Well, maybe for the goat.

Since I stopped eating meat, I regularly crave some curried goat and jerk chicken. There used to be a guy that ran a little Jamaican barbeque shack near where I worked and I’d eat there constantly.

I was actually just referencing this joke because it sounded funny to say it out loud. I’ve also been a vegetarian for about ten years.

There was a little curry van too that showed up one day a week, and I’d have their keema and pea curry every week too. I was a right fat bastard around then too, I wonder why?

Is this the thread to complain about every single thread be infected by tonverk talk? I know this is a elektron forum, but still….

Anyway, be the change you want in the world and all that… So here is a rant I see fit for this safe space:

Can we talk about garbage collection? How hard is it to check the days provided by the town council for the recycling waste? It’s been the same goddamn days for years, the council has won the latest election, nothing changed. Paper is collected on Thursdays only. Why the fuck oh my lovely neighbours do you put the paper bin and cardboard boxes out on Monday? The street looks like a dump all the time. Also there are dedicated large areas at the ends of the street for larger items, don’t just dump these on your door step.
Wouldn’t it be nicer if we have had a clean city, and some civility was apparent?

Yes I know there are worse problems in the world right now, but I needed to vent, and this seemed the place.

Yeah it’s not ideal. We live in an end terrace at the top of a hill, at fairly high altitude, and the wind whips anything left out all over the place. It doesn’t help that the bin vans need to go up a certain road to get to us, and twats keep parking in front of it, so nothing ends up being collected and we have shit go everywhere as a result.

Lighten up man.

If we can’t have a laugh at ourselves, What’s the fucking point…

Yeah, no-one is currying or doing anything else to my goats if I have any say in the matter.
