Miserable git Vs Happy accidents

Would appear you’ve been dining out on glibness for a while. X

In a similar vein it’s also easy to be critical and much harder to be positive and supporting. Cheapshots are a bit cowardly even. Maybe you’re just trying to be funny but there are prople you don’t care about who might feel like quitting and you would be hitting them while down.

I much prefer unhappy and unpleasant accidents!

Like pulling a muscle in your groin moving a printer and two days later hurting the back moving another printer!

That was awesome!

I think a lot of music that relies on granular sound generation leans into happy accidents. That said, you have to know how to program your gear to encourage those happy accidents. There’s plenty of dreadful granular soundscape videos out there.

Could you program each little event? Sure. That doesn’t sound like much fun. I’d rather embrace the chaos a bit than micromanage every minute detail.

So first it’s toxic masculinity.

Now I’m a coward?

What if I feel like quitting?

What if having a laugh (mostly at myself) is what keeps me going?

And who am I actually hurting by making a joke thread that clearly sets me up as the arsehole from the get go?

I don’t think I’ve written anything outside of the guidelines. If you think I have, by all means waste the mods’ time on it, otherwise, just mute me/the thread and move on.

Can’t be arsed with people taking this shit so seriously…

I’m a pretty damn sensitive person. I take things personally when I shouldn’t, I’m naturally reactionary, and I can’t handle “banter” much of the time. Even I can recognize that this post is a tongue-in-cheek joke poking fun at something common in electronic music production/ synth communities. If this was directed at a specific person, maybe it would feel like bullying or “punching down” but that’s clearly not what’s happening here.

Don’t feel bad, my in-laws call me a coward all the time! Well that or asshole. Either way it stings a little less every time! Don’t quit!

I first heard happy accidents from playing guitar/bass. Hitting a perceived wrong note only to find out it fits well within what you’re playing.

It happened as a beginner and still happens 20 years later. The only difference, like most beginners, the happy accidents didn’t hide my shit playing!

Oh for sure, I know it’s a term outside synth nerd forums. I also only know like two other musicians in real life and only a small handful of other creative types, so I was just speaking from what I can verify/ what I know.

I wouldn’t disagree with this, but perhaps a bit naive (if a genuine statement) to expect people to mute and not engage on a public forum. I, for one, would hope you didn’t quit as it looks like you create a fair amount of ‘content’ on here.

I just think the punter earlier up the thread deserved a bit more than a video titled ‘you’re wrong’ as a reply.

All the best. X

Deserves got nothing to do with it.

The term happy accidents has been irritating me of late too.

I recommend getting a massage and having a professional rub it out for you.

I have been a happy accident all my life. At least, for my mother.

Speaking of happy accidents!

My ex once backed her truck into a wall and bent the bumper. Three weeks later a lady rear ended the truck in the exact same spot causing more damage. It all got fixed like new. Happy. Accident.

I mute threads almost daily. If I didnt, I would have stopped using this forum a long time ago.
