Minitaur Tuning

Hi,
I have a question about tuning my Minitaur.
After the warm up time (about 15min) i notice that i have to fine tune it. (turning the knob -15° approx)

I wish i could have the right tuning when the fine tuning knob stay at his center position.
I tried ‘start calibration’ with the Minitaur editor but nothing has changed.

Have you any advices to reach my goal ? (right tuning in the center position)

I fear, if the center position is not the correct pitch position after recalibration, it takes a service engineer to do some work inside the box.

I have the same behaviour, but I can live with it

I take it as the typcial every-day tuning procedure, which is necessary for all of my analogue gear without a digital controled oscillator.

I even don’t think that any of my gear hit’s the correct pitch at the notched center position

It might be a trick to solve our problem because ‘start calibration’ is supposed to do something ?
(I sequence the Minitaur with the DT)
I’m not sure to understand the yellow part below :

The yellow part seems to be of no concern, if you use your DT. I guess you are connecting via midi, and midi is digital commands.

The CV inputs are common on some Moog instruments. Most sequencers or Eurorack gear of today are compliant with the 1 V/Oct standard. But if this is not the case, the Minitaur seems to support a calibration method, to go with the non-standard CV controlers.

I would try to set the fine-tuning knob to center position, let the Minitaur warm up (I think 15 min. should be good) and let the calibration procedure do its work.

AFAIK the Minitaur has VCOs, which are not stabilized digitally. This means, if you have a different temperature after the calibration, the tuning will be a little off too.

I did this with fine tuning in the center and in a -10° position after the warm up time. same result → Nothing
Well not exactly, there is a nice waiting music
I’m waiting for your feedback.

Sad to hear. I will try it myself this evening and will report the outcome … until then …

Made a calibration just the other minute … in short … it worked for me.

Before the calibration the tuning was at the center position of the fine tuning kob about 6-10 cent off. After running the “note calibration” procedure it was dead center at the correct pitch.

Just a question. Does the pitch on your Minitaur drift over relatively short time?

I don’t understand your question.
I’m happy this had works for you. Did you calibrate the Minitaur before or after the warm up time ?

As in, does it sound like it gets more out of tune over 10 minutes after being turned on. Or is it hitting a consistent out of tune pitch?

I just wanted to chime in and ask if you’ve tried selecting a blank INIT preset to test if it’s still out of tune? I remember seeing a post about a user with similar detuning problems – the sysEX Calibration tool wasn’t working because it ended up being a detune issue with the Panel Settings preset they were using ((somehow got altered by an errant MIDI message)).

I have my Sirin close by if you need me to confirm any settings ((might want to check your Firmware version while you’re at it)).

When i turn it on, I let the fine tune is at -15° and wait 15 minutes (warm up time) and the tuning is right.
I try others factory patches and the tuning is also good without touching the fine tune knob.

I would like to have the good tuning but with fine tune in the center.

just pull off the knob and put it back in the right position

I let warm it up for about 15 minutes and then checked the tuning, which was some cents off after the warming up. Then I started the calibration.
