Minilogue XD

Ultimate distinction there.
The ability to disable individual note steps, individual motion sequence steps, and individual slide steps, all independent of one another really maxes Monologue’s sequencer an “axe” to be jammed on live.

I’d own the XD module if it had the Monologue sequencer.

That is some back-of-the-wine-label type of stuff right there. :wine_glass: :+1:

Personally I think they both sound like Korg brand resonant low-pass filters and make things sound the way I want them to. The circumstances of isolation prevent me from running over to do a head to head comparison, but there isn’t a sound I have been frustrated by not being able to replicate might be the way to say it.

You should see me try and describe a new IPA, or Saison that I am sampling. It probably comes across as intimate poetry meets madlibs. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

So do I, in fact. I didn’t mean to imply that the Minilogue sounds exactly like an Arp, but it does get certain qualities at certain resonance settings that remind me of that. It seemed to soften up a little, and get an airy/liquidy quality to it. On the XD it seemed to hold the beef a little bit more, which I like as well.

Oh yeah, I think it would be fun to get both the Minilogue’s, and a Prologue together to see how they all sound in the same room. I have no experience with the latter, but it would be great to try all three of them out at once.

Hm… I had the Original Minilogue before and the XD for a few months now. There are some big differences: The third digital oscillator (user waves) gives you completely different soundscapes. And with the additional effects (chorus, phaser, flanger, reverb), you can also achieve a lot more (or other) than the original. The original is also a great instrument, but the two differ in their architecture.

Correct Dauna, excuse my rushed post back then, i had people round at my place, so should have waited until they had gone, before posting.
Yes of course, the XD is far more powerful in respect of the Oscillator and extra effects.
As i mentioned in my original post, i’m happy enough with the original but should i have waited for the XD?, probably looking back but hindsight is a great thing, so they say.
Cheers.

Looks like I was wrong. The XD does have a Motion Mode for the 16 step buttons. It just doesn’t have the Slide mode, which is not a big deal for me personally. The Motion Mode button when pressed lights up the 16 steps that have motion sequencing on them so you can turn them on and off independently of the note buttons.

I could get down with that.

Some day in the future though, I’ve moved on in another direction.

Thanks for the info!

So I picked up the latest multi engine oscillator from Tim Shoebridge and my jaw is still rolling around on the floor. Spent nearly three hours today playing with a single patch where the XD LFO was set to modulate the Shape (X-axis) and my Digitakt LFO was set to shift-Shape (Y-axis), creating this ever-morphing, swirling vortex of four waveforms… started blending in the two VCOs, adding FX, and then somewhere along the process my face melted. Whoops!

I’ve never had more fun playing a synth. This thing is just absolutely sublime.

this oscillator certainly gets very very close to the sound of a Prophet VS!! makes me consider picking an XD up and getting this osc, and perhaps finally scratching my VS itch for less than the cost of a VS.

New osc for the Logues - Node by Sinevibes. Four-operator FM synthesis engine. Sounds pretty cool.

OK it won’t make your XD (or NTS-1 !) into an OPSIX but WOW what a deal for the money. ($39) Twenty four FM algorithms with lots of ways to adjust them, and lots of other options.

If you already have a Korg with a 'Logue Multi-Engine this seems a no-brainer.

These sound great. I imagine it would be on the XD, mixing these with the analog oscillators and filter. Very cool. I have played the XD, but don’t own one. Whenever one of these new digital packs for the Korgs comes out, it pushes it up on the list. At least we aren’t anywhere near the biggest sale day of the year, otherwise I would be tempted to pick one up.

The XD has korg’s version of phase modulation as one of the defaults on the third oscillator. But this Node oscillator seems like it’s got more operators and algos. I will sleep on it and maybe try it in the morning.

Here are the 24 algorithms possible.

Hi there,
I’ve just published a demo of my second Sound Pack for Korg’s Minilogue XD.

71 Patches for Ambient, Techno and Electronica. Many of the Patches are build around Mutable Instrument’s free user oscillators but most of them will work also without them being installed.

And sorry for using this forum again shamelessly for promo. Maybe you enjoy the video out of pure interest how MI’s oscillators incorporate.

If you even think about purchasing the sound pack, please use the intro promo code “thermodynamics” during check out:

no sorry necessary as far as i’m concerned, you’re my favourite patch programmer and demo’er, always excited to see your latest vid pop up.

Ui - thanks a lot!

Has anyone taken the plunge on any of the Sinevibes Osc or FX for the XD?

I have pretty much all of them… top notch… anything from sinevibes or tim shoebridge will be well worth the money.
