couldn’t find any reviews online (besides those on Thomann’s site) and was wondering if anyone here had any experience with Millenium studio desks? mostly interested in how the build quality and sturdiness is.
Bought one three months ago, and I was pleasantly surprised with how sturdy it is (living on the 4th floor without elevator, quite the workout the bring it upstairs). As I always had ‘normal’ tables or desks before, this one feels for me as a real upgrade. The only thing bothering me a bit is the pull-out shelf, as it barely leaves leg space. For that price no further complaints though.
good point, wouldn’t have thought of that! btw, on the product page it says that the pull-out shelf has a depth of 40 cm, does it come out as much that the entire 40 cm is uncovered?
Yes, you’ve the full 40 cm uncovered. Picture is a bit dark, but I pulled it out as far as possible.
ah cool, appreciate the pic! so when you’re sitting so that you’re legs fit under the pull-out shelf, is the problem that the devices on top the table are at an awkward height to operate?
Well, actually I always leave that keyboard stand in the pushed in position. My legs then just have enough space to fit under. It’s not ideal, but it works. An option would be to go to a hardware store and see if I can find something so that the keyboard stand is a bit higher.
Cool to see this question pop up here. I’m also thinking about buying this desk (or the zaor miza 88) but I read somewhere that the legs of this desk can vibrate when playing stuff loud. Now, I won’t crack up my speakers constantly, but since I will be mixing lowend content alot, this might be a big annoyance.
Also, how would you go about raising the keyboard tray slightly? I can’t see the sliding mechanism well enough to think of a solution.
wait, how does the position of the pull-out shelf affect the leg space if it doesn’t move up/down?
having a hard time finding a desk where the distance between the pull-out shelf and the desk would be less than 14cm (which it is on the Millenium) just tried lowering my chair so that there would be 14cm (+ some extra for the shelf) between my legs and my current table and that would make accessing all the gear on the table quite uncomfortable for me.
Hi, This thread was helpful in deciding to buy this desk so I thought I would post a few pics of it setup for anyone else considering it. Sturdy construction for the price. Easy to assemble. One bad thing as stated above is that the height is quite low with the lower shelf. I put 4" blocks underneath the bottom piece (not the wheels) and it is just about ok but the main desk feels fractionally high now but nothing major. Overall a really good budget desk.
Received this today. Overall, quite happy with the look and build quality - it’s very nice, but as mentioned it is a bit low and I’m finding it difficult to find a chair that fits under the keyboard shelf. I am 5 foot 10 inches and can hardly get my knees under it - the chair has to be at its lowest point in order for it to work (be sure to check out the measurements).
I’m thinking of removing the keyboard shelf and placing the keyboard on the main surface in order to be able to have a normal chair with armrests. A chair without armrests is the only way this works with the keyboard shelf - which is fine for short periods of time but, for me, it’s not very comfortable for several hours.
Adjustable legs, keyboard and rackmount shelves would make this an ideal setup for small spaces. I would certainly pay a bit more. Not sure why they didn’t design it that way to begin with.
At any rate, I hope this helps anyone in their research!
Evening all, I’ve just ordered Millenium SD-180 B StudioDesk and was hoping someone could tell me the size of the castor baseplate as I would like to change them for some heavy duty ones.
Cheers,
Elliot
