I’ve been watching some videos of the Midicake Arp and I prefer the simplicity of the NDLR. Also, I really like the way you apply the Modulations on the NDLR. Have you watched the videos of the recent FW update on the NDLR?
This would actually be great! would the midicake arp have existed before I bought the NDLR, it would have been an instabuy, now I’m still a bit in doubt. such a video could really help.
Anyways, thanks for the elaborate reply!
Recent firmware update of the NDLR? whuuuuut? thought it was abandoned!
gonna check it out, thanks! can’t seem to find any ‘release notes’ on the specs of the new firmware.
But, lets not hijack the midicake topic here!
Done.
did this ever happen? still in doubt about this one. (since i have NDLR, oxi one might be a smarter buy)
It is still in the pipeline. The script is written but I have been focusing on the new Firmware Update for ARP (v5) which will be released on 11th Jan. I hope to record the video in the next week or so.
oooh that sounds exciting; any heads up of whats in store?
I’ll post the details here on Thursday. I will say that it’s a pretty massive update.
The release date of Version 5 Firmware for ARP has been pushed back by just a few days.
New Release Date: January 18th, 2024
While the new firmware is ready, we are still honing the supporting documentation and media content. Version 5 has some complex new features and we want to be certain that it is fully supported.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Yes, I said I’d share the new features on the 11th, so here they are: -
- Revolutionary new Time Parameters
- Classic Arpeggiator Mode
- One Finger Mode
- Keyboard Split/Zones
- Power Button
- Encoder Enhancements
- Macro CC Output
- MIDI Output Routing Options
- Multi Menu Control Enhancements
- Patch Change Behaviour Options
It’s a massive update and the changes to Time parameters, particularly, are super exciting!
I’ll post as soon as I have more info.
This one sound awsome to sequence chords from DT
Very excited to this new patch.
Very excited to about this update, curious what the new time paramates will do, this could the update that does to the Arp what 1.70 did for the Rytm…
Hello Chris,
I’m very excited about the update.
Yesterday I saw your youtube short video on the new Time feature, looks very interessting
Nice work, keep it going
excited too!
Midicake are overjoyed to announce the massive new firmware update for Midicake ARP.
The v5 update introduces changes that will Revolutionize your Control over MIDI Musical Timing.
It’s completely FREE! You can install it quickly and easily by following the instructions on: https://midicake.com/downloads
New Features
Time Parameters
A huge update that enables unconstrained Time Divisions (bar divisions) and Polyrhythm/Polymeter effects. Timing Modulation, Delay and Groove have also had significant internal updates.
Classic Mode
You can now play ARP like a classic synth arpeggiator. All parameters can still be used to shape the sequence.
One Finger Mode
You can select and play Chords/Scales in One Finger Mode, using a single note on your keyboard or MIDI input device.
Keyboard Split / Zoning
ARP now lets you create keyboard zones by adding a split point.
ARP will then only use MIDI input above or below this point, as configured, to set the chord/scale. This allows control of ARP with one hand while playing freely with the other.
Power Button
Power down without pulling the plug? Yes!
Improved Encoder Controls
The Rotary Control knobs have been tweaked, making it easier to fine-tune parameters for greater control over the sequences during a performance.
Macro CC Output
The Macro controls can now output MIDI CC values allowing you to control external gear or VST parameters directly from ARP.
MIDI Output Routing
The v5 update lets you enable and disable specific MIDI output ports.
This has been a huge undertaking, especially the Timing capabilities which I think is unique in MIDI sequencing. I hope you enjoy it!
awesome!
Hello.
I really want to try this device, and I have a Digitakt, if you have time, can you describe in more detail their use in pairs.
Thank you.
I like to use Digitakt and Vermona PERfourMER together. I connected the ARP in between Digitakt and PERfourMER. I sequence the PFM with DT midi track. The arp transform my basic no musical theory sequence into something less obvious and more interesting. I sometime sample the created loop and then slice and transform, you know the folowing.
With arp, no need to manually enter chords. the one finger mode take care of it.
I have to test to sequence Syntakt or Digitone.
would love to see a video of how you do this! sounds intriguing
