MIDI trigger

Hello sorry if this has been covered before but is it possible on one of the midi tracks on digitakt to send midi triggers out to advance a step on another synths sequencer.

Examples below at the end of the YouTube video

I’m wanting to know if this is possible looking to buy a boutique or two and was wondering if this technique is possible?

Thanks for the help.

It is not possible to do exactly what you describe without additional intermediate hardware.

The JX-08 requires an analogue clock pulse to advance the sequencer by a single step; as far as I know, there is no way to do that directly from a MIDI track on the DT. The video example uses an analogue trigger output from the drum machine.

You might be able to use one of the DT’s audio outputs to send a trigger waveform to the JX-08, but that might be too much of a sacrifice for you.

Otherwise you can use MIDI to synchronize the sequencers of the DT and JX-08, or sequence the JX-08 from the DT.

Anything else needs additional gear.

Hi

Thanks for your reply, what additional gear would you think could work? Some kind of midi breakout/ converter box?

The most straightforward option would be what is usually called a MIDI-to-CV convertor. This would convert MIDI Note messages to analog gate or trigger signals.

Imagining a world where you could set a Digitakt track to only progress on a cc command and internally route another track to send these messages. Then realise how much that would brain hurt and also guess this sort of chaos is what that Cirklon thing you folks are often talking about does. My OB6 has a sequencer trigger like this so tempted to play about as another distraction from making music
