So I’ve been a bit disappointed that TV sequencer lane doesn’t mean plocks now have their own sequencer lane that can also have individual track lengths etc and allows for more clean programming of plocks independent of notes. But this got me thinking: I usually limit myself to 8 tracks on DT II and DN II, so I could theoretically use the other 8 tracks to do exactly this and just plug a MIDI cable from their output into their input. Would this work?
I could then make some MIDI templates with the most common CCs I’d like to plock, name and save them. And they could also include CCs for mod wheel and breath controller so I could plock and automate (live record!) performance macros, a feature I wish the digis had.
Anyone try this? If the loop back doesn’t work for some reason, I could of course use DN MIDI tracks to modulate DT and vice versa, but that would be more convoluted of course.
This is actually a pretty cool idea. You could also shift the trigless trigs using func+arrow in the modulation lanes to change it up. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work but I haven’t ever dared to test the midi feedback trick as there were some things that should not be done and I’ve been afraid to test it out. You might want to search about the limitations here as I remember they have been discussed multiple times (unless someone who knows for certain chimes in). I vaguely remember someone mentioned receive notes should be turned off so it might not work but they are trigless trigs, not notes!
Let me know how it works if you end up trying! I could definitely spare a track or two for this.
Yes this is possible, and you can control many things with macros (PB, AT, MW , BC). You can control randomize notes within a scale and euclidean sequencer…
This is great news, thanks! I use macros a lot but this would take it to the next level. Any things I have to be careful of in MIDI settings other than assigning the right channel to the right track (like receive no notes)?
As long as a midi track doesn’t create a midi loop…(sending and receiving on the same channel)
For exemple if you use track 9, send midi to channel 9 and receive on channel 9…
Audio tracks don’t send back incoming midi so it is safe to control them
Anyway, a midi loopback freeze doesn’t burn your unit !
