MIDI Track LFO

I’m trying to figure out the LFO’s on the MIDI track.

I am on track 9, which is connected to my Bass Station 2. I set CC#1 to 16 for Filter Cutoff, and I can control it with the DT knob A. All other CC’s are disabled.

I set the LFO to Dest: CC1 value and it seems to have no effect at all. What am I missing?

Hmm, that’s weird. You can move the knob and the filter changes? And the LFO depth is set above 0, of course, right? Maybe send a pic of your settings so we can help you out?

Unmute track 9?

So it is working, as in it’s not doing nothing. What happens if you fully open the filter on the BS, then control it via the DT’s LFO? Or if the BS is set in the middle of the range? I think in this instance the DT’s LFO will move it from its current value rather than assume total control. Try smaller depth settings to ensure the filter isn’t closing fully too, so you can hear everything. Then it’s a case of balancing the settings, like speed, multiplier, wave, depth, mode, etc. Hope that makes sense!

On the TRIG page do you have LFO.T enabled?

Latest DT firmware? There were some squashed LFO bugs in the 1.20 release…

Thanks everyone, I spent some more time playing around with the depth in combination with the control it was mapped to and it’s still not doing exactly what I was expecting but it is certainly working. I think I’m going to hook the DT up to ableton to record the CC messages coming out to get a sense of how it works.

I have 1.20.

I was trying to use the LFO in free-running mode, but good to know that I have to enable the trig on trig page to use the other one!

It’s an odd one… LFO.T doesn’t need to be enabled on the Sample tracks for them to have a effect so i’m not sure why it’s necessary on MIDI tracks.

You need to enable LFO.T for it to work, full stop. If it’s disabled, you won’t get any modulation.

Even for free-running?

Yep. I don’t know why but it won’t work otherwise. Maybe it’s a bug in 1.20 or it might have always been this way…?!
