Midi splitter with multiple channels

Please forgive me if this is on the forum somewhere. I searched around and got a lot of info that’s half way there. What I want to do is control 2 devices with my Octatrack but rather than have a midi splitter device sending the same information to both synths I need to be able to send a different midi channel to each output. So I can use T1 to send midi to an iPad, T2 to a synth, etc. Any suggestions?

Kenton have a range of splitters, not got time to check right now but you should start there fella :+1:t3:

Actually now that I look at their list of utility boxes it’s the same issue. Either merges multiple midi signals into 1 or splits 1 into multiple identical copies.

iConnect midi4+ is what I’ve got and it does everything. …got a good deal on one through ebay. iConnect also makes some smaller boxes worth looking into

Can you not set what midi channel each track outputs to?

Was just about to ask the same. I have numerous synths and all are on their own midi channel. My OT controls them all without any problem.

Derp, I gotcha. So each split signal would send all the midi channels and I just tell each box to receive only one? That makes way more sense. I’ve never connected more than one device in this way. Thanks guys.

You tell each OT midi track what channel it is to send on, which should match the midi channel of the synth you wish the track to correspond to. The synth only receives what’s on that particular channel.

You may still need a splitter to reach multiple devices and something to convert midi to usb for the iPad.

Yeah I have the midi to lightning converter so that’s covered. Cool. That sounds good. I’m not sure why that didn’t click with me initially. Thanks again.
