Okay, this is just a post to share my joy of having bought this thing. I’ve been trying to sync a DT, a Microfreak and an RC202. After months of trying different half assed solutions, not getting any wiser communicating with Arturia, I just decided to buy this little thing. Always been sceptical of buying stuff like this, probably because it’s such a boring purchase. Well, it’s not boring having everything sync up perfectly straight out of the box. Take that, Satan.
I bought the Kenton version of it a few years ago.
Life changing.
QuadraThru is great but be warned, it’s the gateway drug to an E-RM Multiclock.
Hehe, yeah, I’ve been eyeing up something like that for a while. But with my modest OTB setup, this will do fine for now. It just went so smoothly that i got misty eyed.
One caveat though: it needs juice from the midi cable… and now in the age of TRS midi, it’s not always here.
Yes, good point if someone else gets tempted. I checked that beforehand, and the DT powers it just fine But that could easily have gone under the radar
I still have my Quadra Thru and it is a brilliant little device. As @finalform suggests, if your setup grows you may want something else. I went with a MOTU XT 128. Over the years I’ve come to appreciate the “boring” purchases just as much as the “fun” ones. It is the boring stuff that makes your studio run!
it is very common indeed. A brand new and recent 1010music bluebox can’t power a quadra merge (only 2 pins connected, not three).
This: MIDI Solutions Power Adapter; Power Supply for MIDI Solutions Products
Another “boring” but highly useful product.
Haha. Just busted out my MOTU MIDI 128 XT…dusted it off, pressed the button for the preset I had set up on my computer years ago and bam…I’m in business. Freakin’ brilliant piece of gear lol.
