Sorry about the noob question… I’m daisy chaining my few pieces of hardware and the computer and ran into a small issue: I want to sequence my synths from the digitakt, but I also want to have the option to someone’s sequence them from the computer. Since the through does not take midi from the usb on the digitakt, I can make the digitakt second or third on the chain, but when sending to the stuff that comes after, I can’t get the Digi to just send it through without triggering from that incoming midi. It is probably something in overlooking in the settings, but for the life of me, I haven’t been able to figure it out no matter what channel I select… The midi does go through no problems, but then the digitakt reacts to the same midi and they is no bueno
I’ve never done this, so can’t guarantee it will work but if you go into the midi config on the digitakt, you can set to send clock, CC’s etc but not receive them, so it won’t react to incoming midi data but will send its own midi data to everything connected to it’s midi out and beyond. I’m presuming the midi will still pass through the Digitakt out of the midi thru port even though you’ve set it not to receive the data. Even if my presumption is correct, you might still need to invest in a midi merge box, unless you’re using USB for the Digitakt’s midi out.
If @Fin25’s suggestion doesn’t work for some reason, you could change the midi channels of the audio tracks on DT so that they’re not affected by incoming midi on those channels. For example, if channel 16 is not used, then set all the DT audio tracks to channel 16. This is assuming that you’re sequencing DT tracks via its own sequencer, of course.
