I can’t seem to get my kaoss pad 2 to respond to program changes coming from the Digitak. I have the right MIDI channel selected. I also setup some CC’s to control the Pad and FX depth which work just fine. When I enter the SRC menu and enable Program Change I can’t get the kaoss pad to change programs. Am I missing something here?
I think I’m in the same situation with the Strymon timeline – I can get my synths to respond to program changes from the DT just fine, but not the pedal.
In both cases, it sounds like your Elektron gear is doing what it’s supposed to, so you might want to look into a Korg or Strymon forum.
I have a KP3/+ which work as expected for selecting programs from my OT.
I am aware of some issues with bank select on Nord gear, so maybe check out the MIDI implementation charts for each and see if the Korg and Strymon expect the MSB or LSB in a different order than the DT is sending?
Weird ! Using digitakt with kp2 and program change or control change work as expected. Did you try with another sequencer ?
The KP2 has only 100 programs. Bank Select is not an issue here.
Sometimes I get a bit wordy. I’m aware that some folks aren’t native English speakers ( to most credit, I can hardly tell ) I have Nord Drum 1 which also tops out at 99 programs; I “discovered” the MSB/LSB issue inherent in Nord Drum 2&3 bank select RESEARCHing the units on forums.
IF
other gear in the chain works as expected ( in the case of the Strymon )
AND
the Korg responds to CC’s as expected
THEN
the issue is with the respective pieces of gear, not the DT.
Very basic troubleshooting there. The Nord Bank Select is an example of other gear that wants MIDI messages “massaged” to get the desired result.
All you had to do was set your midi channel on the KP2 then [FUNC] click the encoder for program change on the Digitakt right?
Exactly, that’s it. Set the same midi channel on both KP2 and digitakt midi track and arm the C encoder.
Did you verify that your midi settings on KP2 are correct (HOLD must be lit to activate the reception of the program change) ?
You need to have hold enabled on the KP2 to change programs over MIDI? My settings should be correct I can send MIDI CC to the pad and control the X & Y just fine. I also mapped the CC value for telling the KP2 that your finger is on the pad as well as FX Depth which work just fine… I’ll try turning hold on the KP2 and see if I can get the program to change that way.
