MIDI over Ethernet (Mac) for better MIDI sync?

So … the bigger iConnectivity MIDI interfaces offer an Ethernet port. The Mac OS has a MIDI-over-ethernet real time protocol that’s supposed to have sample-accurate sync. So I’m wondering if using the iConnectivity interface will give me better MIDI timing between DAW and external MIDI gear than going down the USB-MIDI route???

If so how come Ethernet isn’t being used more widely, given that USB-MIDI is known to be inaccurate?

I started down this line of investigation as I realised that Ableton Live isn’t syncing very tightly with my Analog Rytm. I’m connecting the Rytm over USB…

I managed to improve the sync timing by ear, by creating a sharp click sound using a snare with very short decay and placing trigs on every beat, then turning on Live’s metronome and adjusting the Sync delay in Preferences until both sounds were in sync. The sweet spot is around -20ms in my case… The Rytm is plugged in to the Mac directly, no hub,
