Odd issue. Connected novation midi keyboard to DT’s Midi In and a Synth to DT’s Midi out.
When playing the keyboard, the note gets stuck on the synth. This does not happen when using Midi through or when playing directly on the DT. Help greatly appreciated
The easiest thing to do would be to monitor the midi coming out of the digitakt and read or post the results so that someone here can help.
You should be able to easily identify the difference between the midi out chain when you play the synth on the digitakt’s native trig keys vs what is sent when the novation midi is relayed by the digitakt’s midi track routing.
Playing the trig keys is just like playing a midi keyboard in that what you press is what you get, same as your midi thru situation, so something on the digitakt’s track level seems to be causing that latching behavior (if the situation is that using the novation controller with midi thru does not cause the same behavior).
Once there is a discernable difference, it should be a lot more straightforward to troubleshoot the cause.
Thanks for the response! Unfortunately, I am not sure how to monitor the midi messages. I don’t have a pc with overbridge. Is it the only way?
I don’t have the problem of hanging notes when chaining the synth by using Midi through on the DT. It’s odd. It’s just the note stop message that is not forwarded.
I also tried enabling/disabling various midi settings, like clock sync etc.
Check out the bug reports thread, I’m seeing some similar reports of missing note off messages with similar conditions.
A midi monitor can be downloaded free to your computer and it would confirm what is being sent.
Read the end of this post below where he says “edit 1” and then use the search feature within that topic using the keyword “note off” and see if anything else looks similar to your issue so you can report it if necessary.
I’m not sure what else to suggest at this point but confirming the issue with a midi monitor would be a good start.
