MIDI note triggers on key lift?

This has happened in a few instances, where just one pad on both the DT2 and my MIDI keyboard will trigger the sound on both the key press, and the release.

I went through all my various settings to find the culprit, unplugged the keyboard, etc — but the issue persisted. I tried switching projects, and then going back to the original project, and issue persisted.

I ended up turning the unit off, and back on — and that fixed it.

What is this issue, and how can I stop is from happening again? (short of turning the DT on and off)

Do you have anything you can use to monitor incoming midi messages? If so you can see if a note on is being sent along with a note off. I can’t see why a note off message would trigger a pad so worth seeing if any ons are being sent as well.

Have you got anything else connected to the Digitakt USB / MIDI apart from the keyboard?

No, unfortunately I do not.

No, I do not have anything else connected. I’m baffled. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

But yeah, turning it on and off fixed it. But this is the second or third time this has happened with this unit.

It happens when you change track while your midi controller has a note being played. The lack of note off trigger causes the issue. Fix by hitting and releasing the same note on the keyboard that you were playing when you changed track.

Avoid by not holding down notes while changing tracks.

Bug that will likely be fixed in next fw

On all Elektrons ? :content:

The same bug exists on Syntakt

I’m also getting this issue when sequencing DT II from OXI One. Weirdly it’s not happening on the ST though

My DTII has a familiar issue since yesterday’s jamsession… track 11 can be manually triggered, but press and lift both trigger the note to play. The sequencer does not trigger the notes, rebooting does not help. Reloading did neither.
Any ideas?

It seems to induce stuck notes, no release. I’d check that switch behavior in Test mode.

Consider a switch change.

For me it’s usually a modular cable stuck between my keys.

Nah, it work correctly when placing trigs and mutes.
Got away with loading another project and switching back.
Need to setup midi filter correctly, was spamming it with my AK that day. Intoxication didn’t help either

Better after a reboot?

A mental reboot, yes.

Same thing is happening to me on a few of my trigs. It’s very weird. I’ll hold the button down and the sample will keep playing, as soon as I release it regriggers the sample. I also dug and dug through settings, but couldn’t find anything. I mean it’s cool though, if that’ what I wanted to do.

Yeah, this same thing happened with me aswell.
Out of the blue, a quick turn off turn on fixed it.

i make a return to vendor

Just a stuck note. It’s as old as midi. For some reason the Elektrons are prone to it. Some synths hav a “panic” button that sends an all notes off message. A firmware update that adds “all midi notes off” with a double tap on the stop button would be a nice feature.

Ha! I have this today on midi track 9. Only happens when I press the DT2 button. Playing same track on the external midi keyboard no problem! Playing other midi tracks no problem.
