Midi loses connectivity

Have been using my monomachine for the first time after it had been in storage for a while. I bought it used from a pawnbrokers, so I have no idea of it’s history.
I have connected it to my machinedrum using midi, using the monomachine for the clock and also to control program changes.

Everything worked well for a few days. Now, the monomachine regularly stops controling the machinedrum. Rebooting the monomachine seems to fix it, but sometimes it takes two reboots.

Is this a sign of aging electronics? Is there a fix?

Could be intermittent midi cables. It’s the last thing you think of but it has helped me in the past. Try different/new ones is my first step recommendation…if you haven’t already.
