MIDI issues with Conductive labs NDLR + OT

Im ready to pull my hair out trying to figure out an issue that I am having with setting up the NDLR to control the Octatrack, and I feel like I’m missing something big.

If anyone has experience using these devices PLEASE help me.

I am trying to use my NDLR to play/sequence chord changes on midi channels 1-4. The NDLR is in charge of SYNC and seems to work except these issues:

  1. The selected track on OT is being progressively switched from track 1 through track 8 throughout playback and ends up on track 8. There is some relation with this unprompted change due to chord changes on the NDLR but I am stumped.

  2. When using the arp(motif 1) on the NDLR, it seems that the OT pauses/stops after the amount of steps of the arp, although not exactly.

Ill buy whoever fixes this issue a coffee or a sound pack or something!

OTcan be controlled by midi notes. You can switch that behaviour off (project/midi/control/audio notes in=>off)

As @roadmoviemusic said: the OT can be controlled by midi notes (see C.1 STANDARD NOTE MAPPING in the manual). When using the standard note mapping only midi note values between 72 and 96 are interpreted as real notes, the rest is interpreted as commands.

BTW: “audio note in = off” isn’t really an option, because then audio tracks will not receive midi notes at all.

You may need to filter which notes are sent to the OT externally or utilize the new trig modes (OS >=1.40) as suggested by @PeterHanes below.

Further to the helpful answers given by @roadmoviemusic and @tnussb, the latest version of the OT firmware has some additional options for the AUDIO NOTE IN setting.

If you don’t want the remote control behaviour but still wish to play samples chromatically, you may like to try the “FOLLOW TM” setting and ensure that your target audio track is set to “CHROMATIC” Trig Mode.

Thanks, but that’s not why I’m here. I would rather that you “pay it forward” by helping someone else on the forum when you are able or just by posting your music when you’re ready to share.
