MIDI in port forwarded to MIDI out port?

A strange thing I just discovered using the OT slaved to another sequencer (MBSeqV4):
While MIDI clock sync is fine, all notes that the master sequencer sends out and the OT receives on its MIDI in (although not intended for the OT) are forwarded directly to the MIDI out of the OT, so I get double triggers on the actual target device of those notes.
Like a “soft-thru” .

I’m sure I didnt have this before. All MIDI channels are off etc.
Anybody had similar issues ?

On the OT start changing MIDI Channels starting from your Auto Channel, and see if something changes.

Is your target device set to receive on a single channel?

As said above, all MIDI channels are off. Changing them doesn’t have any effect.
Target device receives on a single channel.
I can even see on my AMT-8 patchbay that the OT is sending the MIDI notes. When unplugging the MIDI out of the OT, it’s gone.

That is weird. Don´t forget to save your work.

  • Have you performed the “Test” on the Early Start UP?

  • Also have you tried to perform a Factory Reset? (DONT FORGET TO SAVE YOUR WORK FIRST!)

-Firmware upgrade? (DONT FORGET TO SAVE YOUR WORK FIRST!)

If nothing of this helps you should contact support.

Startup Test Ok.
Firmware Update: no change.
Factory Reset: I do not dare, yet

I’ve narrowed it down a bit more, both 1.25D and 1.25E:

[ul]
[li]MIDI->Channels: everything is set to “Off”[/li]
[li]CC Direct Connect: Off[/li]
[li]External sequencer sends its note data via a patchbay to all slave device, including the OT (but meant for others only)[/li]
–> no problem so far, the slave devices play their notes, the OT does not react (as intended)External sequencer
[li]As soon as I assign a MIDI channel to a MIDI machine (MIDI sequencer, Note setup page) that corresponds to one of the slave devices, the incoming MIDI notes on the OT are forwarded to the out port - with the MIDI track on the OT have no trigs at all and even being muted ![/li]
[li]When choosing a different MIDI channel on the OT track, it disappears again[/li]
[li]When the same channel is assigned to an audio track in MIDI>Channels, it disappears as well[/li]
[/ul]
Example: My MBSeqV4 sends a kick drum note on channel 3 to the MIDI patchbay, spreading it to the OT and another drummachine. All fine.
As soon as I assign channel 3 to one of the OT MIDI machines -> port forwarding happens.
Choose channel 4 on the MIDI machine, it disappears.
Or: assign channel 3 as Trig Ch to on of the audio track, it disappears.

I didn’t have the problem before because I only used the channel 3, which was by default assigned as a trig ch to an audio track. Means I can kinda “block” 8 MIDI channels from being port forwarded, but this is not a nice solution.

I can replicate this with other external sequencers, e.g. Ableton Live.

When you say all MIDI channels are off you mean that on the FUNCTION+Project MIDI/Channel page all those channels are set to off?

Also the Auto Ch on the same page is set to Off?

If not, try to change all them to off and try again.

All are off, both Auto Ch and Trig Ch.

As said above, the phenomenon disappears when I assign the MIDI channel 3 to a MIDI machine and the same channel 3 to one of Trig Ch.
However, this is in line with what the manual says, i.e. as soon as that channel is an audio Trig Ch, it cannot be used as a MIDI in channel anymore.
