Midi Control over Chromatic/Slot

Hey

Just wondering if anyone has had success in using a midi controller to use the OT in chromatic or slots mode.

Thanks for any help

Here is the reference for MIDI note inputs on OT. Be careful to stick between C5 and C7 for chromatic notes, as notes outside of this range will trigger other functions. Be aware your MIDI controller might have different octave numbers. Check your MIDI settings in project menu. Auto-channel controls currently selected track.

Here is the manual, check these sections for more info:

  • 8.7 MIDI - MIDI settings overview
  • 15.2 HOW MIDI IS ROUTED
  • 16.5 OCTATRACK AS A MIDI CONTROL CENTER
  • APPENDIX C: MIDI CONTROL REFERENCE

It is not possible to use a midi controller to trigger slots. You can however use C2 to G2 to trigger tracks.

My colored version! :content:
Made with @darenager.

Track’s default (assigned) sample, or track’s machine, to be more precise.
With C1-G1 you can trigger tracks in Plays Free mode. If you plock a different sample on Plays Free tracks you can trigger up to 16 different samples.

Slices can be assigned to the crossfader, so you can play up to 64 kits of 16 sounds. :loopy:

If you use a midi processor, mapping notes to the crossfader’s CC48 you can play 64 slices on the keyboard, or 128 with start points, with evenly spaced samples on the sample chain.

Now that sounds fun!!!

Thanks for the tips, anymore like that would be welcomed

Sample chain, slices, an rdm lfo on slices, Hold mode : random slice each time you trigger the sample.
