I’ve spent the last few hours wrestling with this issue, and I want to leave this information here for my records and for anybody else that might want to do this(now that I’ve finally succeeded):
Here is how to set up using the DT for tempo and using OT for Pg Change(yes, you can set BPM per pattern in the Arranger, but this set up is easier for sketching). It seems like a simple enough concept, but it can get a little confusing when trying to execute it.
1. Midi Routing:
DT(out) >> (in) OT(out || Midi Merger|| thru) >> (in) A4 (thru) >> DT in
2. Internal Setup:
(For my purposes X = 11)
OT:
Trans : Receive
Clock: Receive
Prog Ch: Send(X)
A4:
[In “Sync”]
Receive ALL
[In Channels]
Set Pro Ch in Ch to X
DT:
[In “Sync”]
Clock Send
Prog Ch Receive
[In Channels]
Set Prog Chg in Ch to X
One caveat is that you are triggering sequences from the DT while you are changing patterns from the OT. So, starting out, you’ll select a pattern from the OT and then push play on the DT. It can get a little weird. I haven’t yet been able to get this sorted out so you can select and start patterns from the OT, but I think in order to attain that convenience Elektron would have to bring back the Transport option in the settings menu.
Hope this helps someone. I know it will help me the next time I break down and reassemble my equipment.
