Midi command for "Track" + "Play"?

Hi there,

is there a way to control this shortcut via midi? I want to have a machine start or stop playback via midi (preventing to use sample triggers)…

Are the actions triggered by MIDI notes that are listed on page C-1 of the manual working for you?

No they are not. I need a machine to stop (not mute) while the sequencer is running. Only the “track” + “stop” can provide me this function as far as I am informed…

The track recorder/pickup machines actions are mappped to MIDI NOTES as follows. Active track up and down only works on the auto channel.
From Page C-1 in the manual
ACTION: Note:
Combo Rec C (60)
etc…
etc…
Pickup Play/Stop E (64)

You can’t always rely on what you are informed.
You can rely on the manual (some of the time

Are the tracks in Plays Free mode. Could you use ONE2 triggering and do it via the MIDI Track Trig note: once to start, once to stop…?

From memory, this was something I was hankering for too, whilst it is possible with pickup machines, it seemed not to be for the others

I don’t find any way for “track stop” via midi though…
Triggering a “triggerless” sample/machine works but stopping doesnt…

Ok, but pickup machines don’t work as slaves, right? My setup is that I need unsynced, free samples on top of the sequencer. I wish pickup machines could handle this…

Yep, I think that’s what I was doing with Lemur, setting up out of phase looping off-clock passages. It was easy to get the pieces in and to play, but no way to stop them short of stopping the whole thing, I can’t recall if I just moaned on here or sent a feature request in, but there are a few slots free in the midi chart that could be assigned to that very function

Hey guys,
I uploaded a Lemur template here and I’m pretty sure I had that start/stop feature implemented. I got rid of my OT a year ago so I can’t tell you for sure, but grab the template from the file section and you can pull out the CC or NPRN info I had in there and test it out…

Also, the template itself ain’t bad

It was designed to navigate banks/patterns and play/stop chans…

Hi Biologik,

that sounds interesting. I got an Ipad and Lemur. But how would that help me to control the OT with my RJM Mastermind GT foot controller…

I must say the OT is a fascinating machine but obviously the developpers have no clue about music besides the 4/4 scheme.

It would help if the usable midi commands were transferable
Plus it’s pretty unfair to throw that stone at elektron, more than most they support polyrhythmic phrases of arbitrary length and the OT can be used off the grid, that’s something most won’t use it for, but they did permit it. That’s unusual and should be applauded.

I agree on these polyrythmic ideas. But 4/4 is of course somehow jumping into the users eye since there are typical 16 triggers  My fault to judge so quickly. Still in terms of overdubbing and looping freely over pattern and triggering that stuff from foot controllers or other midi sources I feel restricted…
