Midi cc help w/ octatrack

I have this app that responds to certain cc’s.

I’m trying to trigger stuff in the app with the trigger buttons on the octatrack [1-16] and hopefully use other buttons on the octatrack like function and the arrows.

Now is there anyway I can edit the trigs to send a certain cc. For example pressing trig 1 will send cc#46?

No / You need a translator.

I’m sorry but I’m not sure what u mean by a translator. Could u explain?

Some kind of software or hardware to translate midi messages.

I’m not sure what is out there on the market as I just develop/build my own.

I’m sorry I keep forgetting to click the reply button but do u know if the ot trig buttons send any cc messages at all because I could also remap the cc’s on the app

They send Note On/Off messages ascending from C0 at Velocity 127, on channel nn depending on your Project Midi Channels setting.

You need a midi processor for that task. Only the trig buttons and encoders send midi, though. Arrow keys and other buttons don’t.

*Edit, also yes/no and play/stop…

Play/Stop do, YES and NO too (Arm/Disarm).

Grid recording on
YES sends CC52 (1-127 ARM track), NO sends CC52 (DISARM track)

Grid recording on / REC SETUP
YES sends CC53 (1-127 ARM REC), NO sends CC53 (0, DISARM Rec)

Grid Recording off
YES sends CC54 (1-127 ARM ALL), NO sends CC54 (0, Disarm All)

(to be verified).

What about a trig with plocked LFO assigned to a specific CC value? you could use the new TRIG+YES function when the sequencer is not running or a trigless ór one-shot trig.

Or Plays Free midi tracks (with a plocked CC).
Press Trigs 9-16 to send CCs with them.

@oldbills this works for sure, but you have to be in midi mode.

@oldbills Some other buttons combinations / modes that can send CCs.
What is the app, and what would you like to control?

It’s a video sampler run off a raspberry pi and I was hoping I could sequence it from the octatrack.

I just saw a midi mapping for the app that says it responds to “note on x”

X being some number I think I can find in relation to the octatrack notes.

If that doesn’t work I’m considering trying to get a midi controller with assignable cc’s and sequence that from the ot

I keep trying to respond to people but it doesn’t tag em but yeah it’s a video sampler called recur that runs on a pi

You can use OT as controller, and/or midi sequencer. With each of the 8 midi tracks, you can sequence notes (4 per step), CCs (10 per steps), aftertouch, pitchbend.

A chromatic mode let you send notes chromatically…

In Plays Free mode, Trigs 9-16 can be used to trigger independent sequences, or single messages like CCs.

If you need a controller with more knobs, buttons, you can record their values with OT, but it would be recorded per step (not linear).

Normal. You can quote (text selection, clic on appearing quote word), or use @ before name, like @oldbills.

Yea so I’ve used midi tracks a good bit before.

And I’ve sequenced plenty of equipment with it.

I’m kind of struggling because im working with a raspberry pi now which I’m completely unfamiliar with. I’ve found that the software accepts midi note on commands. And I’m realizing maybe the problem is a faulty midi to usb cable that I just spent 30 bucks on lol :upside_down_face:.

It has terrible reviews so I just bought a newer one I seen mentioned here on the forums so I’m hoping that solves my problem.

What’s the name of the app? I’d be interested in…

It’s called recur.

Really cool program and it works fine with a keypad. Just would be nice to have trig locks and all types of sequencing synced up with my beats.

I think it works better if u import the samples than live record them. Sometimes it freezes up but once it’s saved or pre loaded everything functions pretty smoothly.

and it’s fairly inexpensive to build the only hardware alternative I’ve seen that’s available online is the Roland p-10 and they sell for almost 1k online
