Midas Venice F-series driver won't install on macOS Catalina

Hello,

Okay, I just opened a topic on a download of the Midas Venice F-series driver. I found it, and withdrew the topic, but I think the drive that I downloaded is too outdated, because my mac won’t install it (i’m on Catalina). Some F-series users report online that they have a working driver and interface on Catalina. Also I can’t find anything on the driver not installing, it’s mostly people complaining that they can’t find the Midas Venice in audio devices, but not that the driver won’t install.

Am I missing something? Is there a more up to date driver than the one on the Midas website? Or should I somehow revert back to High Sierra for it to work?

Cheers,

Rogier

I would go find a Midas or Live Sound forum, rather than looking for help in a forum for Elektron devices?
There might be a couple of people here that use that desk, but I doubt there are many.

Thanks for the suggestion. There’s indeed a Music Tribe forum, but it’s got mostly people using M-series devices.

Besides, it’s not a very well kept forum space. I’ll try my luck here first, because I know there are F-series users here.

did you check this thread?

I found a solution. The older driver; 4.1.2. works apparently.

Weird because it lists way older MacOS supposed to work.

It actually works like a charm on Catalina now. Saves me the enormous hassle of reverting back to Monterrey or High Sierra

glad you found a solution! is support for these drivers dead? I assume you can’t ever move to an Apple Silicon machine?

Thanks for posting both the question and answer here.

Helpful for others!

Yeah I will indeed never move haha.

Well, I do have a RME Digiface USB and some ADAT converters. But now that the Midas is running as she’s supposed to, I’m going to sell those.

Having some 16 ins/out is costly, but doesn’t have to break the bank in case I ever move to M-chip macs :grinning:

Glad this topic has some use in the future. I would advice anyone to take the leap and buy a console like this, if it fits your workflow. If you take the channel per coin value it’s insane. Especially since you can use it like an interface.

For sure, it looks like an amazing mixer!

Was on my radar for a while but ended up going in a different direction!

Yeah understandable, and a con to this mixer is that it’s quite old already. Some other options are perhaps a bit more future proof!
