Microfreak vs OP-1

I own a op-1 and im intrested in microfreak. Can someone compare the synth engines and sound palette. Are they similar or different? Should i consider other alternatives? I want something polyphonic.

Nowadays im making slower electronic beats and my background is hiphop.
I own AK, OP-1, Minibrute (selling because im not using it much)
and OT is the heart of my setup, so i can modulate and add effects

Both are digital, obviously, but MF sound quality is in my opinion much better than OP1. Analog filter makes wonders. It’s not fully polyphonic, though as there is only single filter. MF is lacking effects, paraphony might give you a bit of a reverbish sound in some patches.

I’d recommend Peak, great sound and superb controls but it’s quite expensive.

Yes, this is out of my price range at the moment. Blofeld?

Blofeld is very versatile. uFreak is inexpensive and has a sequencer, kb, and IMO more unique sound.
I like the uFreak much more than the Blofeld.

As for comparing to OP-1 The karplus synth is somewhat similar and a couple others, but the modulation matrix and filter make uF stand out.

To be honest, OP-1 and Microfreak is an unfair comparison because they are totally different synths and the OP-1 has a completely different feature set!

I’ve never played with a Microfreak, but have a Blofeld & Op-1. The Blofeld & Op-1 synths are completely different. The Blofeld (desktop version) is amazing especially for the price IMO. A lot of sound shaping tools, the matrix is easy to use & there are A LOT of different sounds. A really wide range of sounds. I mainly make hip hop & trip hop, but also a little techno (different sub genres) & I can find/make sounds for any genre.

The effects are not that great & overload the CPU easy, so I’ve been using it without the effects & adding effects with other gear (Analog Heat, guitar pedals, Op-1, Maschine).

Thanks for the replays!
With blofeld im a bit scared of menu diving - considering what ive heard about it.
With op-1 i meant the comparison only of synth sound
And i dont care much for sequencers, using mainly OT to sequence!

They’re not asking which to buy or for a features comparison, they already own the OP-1, but rather how much synthesis overlap. In this case, a legitimate question IMO.

The sequencer is worthwhile on the uF tho, especially with the 4 parameter sequencing lanes.
Or you can trigger the sequence via a midi note (from OT) and transpose, best of both worlds.
With many patches, the sequence is a major component of the patch. It’s quite smart and well-implemented.
