Microcosm | Hologram Electronics

I purchased two fairly recently. Shipped out of TN, USA and arrived within the same week to Poland. $50 delivery fee and $117.07 in tax. I heard a rumor that Hologram is opening up distribution in Germany this year, but I think the guy was full of crap.

Edit: I just tried now many times and I was able to get perfectly synced loops each time. So maybe it’s not that bad. I’ll be testing further. I think it would help with a clear bar limit so that you don’t have to press stop exactly on the beat.

Nope. I spent time trying with an OT but since you have to send different CCs to Rec and Play, it was a nightmare to set up and I gave up.
On the other hand, it works well by pressing manually (quantized to the quarter beat IIRC) so why bother?

Aaand I got it – within three days of ordering. It might be a doomed planet, but the logistics of ordering a device from the US on May 1st, and have it in your Austrian flat on May 4th, simply amaze me.

Customs clearance happened automatically, and nothing further was charged. I even got two stickers.

Thanks Hologram.

From my experience with the Microcosm (more than a year), I can say that the DN is my favorite Synth to pair up with this pedal.

Sounds great Tchu. Good to hear a finished piece with the Microcosm. Plenty of Tunnel in there I reckon :grinning: Yes they go well together. I bought the Microcosm for my Rev2 and it is incredible with that synth.

Hi,

I am considering getting the Microcosm pedal directly from Hologram website and the price that includes the prepaid taxes and shipping to EU is ok’ish, compared to what you can buy on Reverb, ebay, etc.
Has anyone in EU done the same thing? Just want to make sure I won’t stumble on any unexpected issues.

Thanks!

Ordered from their website with no hidden costs or additional fees to Germany. Shipping was also rather quick so nothing to worry about really.

Same here. Ordered on Monday got it on Wednesday. Insanely fast, no extra costs.

Me too

Yeah bought two to lower costs. All VAT and customs paid in advance to Hologram so no extra charges importing it to Europe (Portugal). After selling the second unit, with profit, the one I kept was around 350€ and it was the black edition.

This track here is the one where I’ve probably used Microcosm the most:

For the beginning parts, I’ve used Mozaic, on the plucky sounds with a little interrupt at the end. Also some analog delay from Specular Tempus to color it even more.

Then comes the choir like sound in the transition, which comes from another sound in the track that sounded like a pad through Microcosm. So I recorded that into OT and played the notes like a choir pad.

It returns for the final part and is joined by another weird percussive/melodic sound. That was the tracks from part 1 fed into I think strum at full mix, which resulted in this haunting ghost percussion sound.

The track is nothing special overall and more like a palette cleanser in context of the EP, but the Microcosm gives it all of its charm I would say.

I placed an order with Hologram on August 11th. As of today, August 23rd, my parcel is still being held by DHL (in Bucharest) for customs clearance, despite having submitted all the required documentation. It appears that prepaying the taxes hasn’t had any impact on the situation.

I made this new ambient track with Elektron machines, Rev2 and Microcosm.
