MFB Tanzmaus Sample Pack by LØSTLVLS

First there was the Tanzbär (which I’m yet to have in the studio), then there was the Tanzbär Lite and Tanzmaus, two raw little drum machines which punch well above their weight! This is a love-letter to MFB’s diminutive darling, with its five analogue voices and four sample voices, painstakingly recorded, cropped, normalised and organised for posterity. I got a bit carried away with Arturia’s Efx MOTIONS plugin on the demos. I hope you enjoy.

Got some more things coming - more free stuff, extra demos and something you won’t see coming… Looking forward to sharing!

Now that you’ve done quite a few of these packs, how did you find the Tanzmaus in comparison?

I like it a lot. Not sure which I’d rather have, if I had to choose one - the Tanzbär Lite or the Tanzmaus. The former has more analogue voices, but the latter has a really nice kick and crunchy samples, as well as a sample management tool.

P-locking works nicely and the little things like selectable transients on some of the voices and different pattern lengths. It’s quite confusing at first, not least because the play button is on a shift command (to help with live playing) and because the buttons are so titchy, but it’s engrossing and adorable. MFB were/are a company with a unique take on electronic instruments, you could tell they were made by and for one person really, Manfred Fricke. Few concessions were made for the public, these boxes are uncompromising in their vision.

Thank you, I definitely agree.

For a 909 fan, the Tanzmaus sounds awesome - except the clap :grimacing:

Yeah it’s a clap that takes a bit of tweaking haha. The sampled clap is decent though, and can be blended in with it for extra grunt.
