Hello all! I’m stoked to announce my latest project, a love-letter to the epic MFB Tanzbär drum machine!
Chances are you’ve heard of the Tanzbär, watched videos of it (Stimming did a great one) or even owned one. You might even still own one. It’s one of those iconic pieces of kit that brings to mind the classic boxes from Roland, yet it has plenty of modern tricks such as extended controls, selectable transients for certain voices, synth voices that make it more of a groovebox and a unique ‘bend’ parameter that lends itself to cool sequences. Speaking of which, the sequencer is pretty tasty too, surprisingly similar to our beloved Elektrons, yet created by one man, the late, great Manfred Fricke.
Specs:
Total One-Shot Samples: 272
Total Oscillators: 8
Total Loops: 16
Total Sample Chains: 12
Loop Tempo: 120bpm-128bpm
Key/Tempo Info: Yes (where applicable)
Audio Formats:
24-Bit // 48kHz WAV (one-shots/loops/oscillators)
16-Bit // 44.1kHz WAV (sample chains)
I had a blast making this one, not least getting the core sounds down, then re-contextualising the device by running it through hardware effects. Was a pleasure to finally understand what it is that people love so much about it.
Let me know if there are any issues in the download and I will fix them ASAP.
