NICE!!! I REALLY miss my Mask 1, but have no space for another keyboard. I’ve been enjoying not wanting anything new for NEARLY a year now, but this… I will probably have to get one.
The desktop was just announced.
€299 ex.VAT
But it does say limited Gold edition also specs are reduced from the keyboard version.
299 ![]()
in today’s age this is a price point that says ‘we are serious about selling units’
as opposed to ‘we hope we can cash in big on a couple fools’
Desktop version now.
Wow!
That is incredible! Well, Mask it is! I wasn’t expecting that at all. It’s actually completely worth the price-bracket the keyboard was in for what it provides. (minus keyboard costs of course). It’s one of the few synthesis methods that sets itself apart, but still retains enough of the familiar to not make it completely niche or experimental. Very cool! I of course will have to replace the knobs with gold-anodized aluminum ones. ![]()
This looks very tempting.
Not too badly though, and I think given the type of synthesis, 8X oversampling should be good. Part of the charm of this synth is the digital sounds. It can also do really nice smooth pads and such nicely too, but I tended to go for those Microwave(y) type sounds. I think the tradeoffs here are quite acceptable especially at the pricepoint.
The mulitimbrality is a bigger drop off but 5 is a lot in that category anyway.
I really appreciate that they’re releasing a ‘no frills’ version of their synth, which is going to get those sounds in the hands of way more people. Kinda wish more manufacturers would do that…
In general I love the big, properly well built stuff that has a great interface, and kind of dislike the really small n’ cheap cut-back stuff that has become very common. But this idea of selling a proper keyboard, then offering a more minimal cheap version of the same thing makes a lot of sense to me.
The gold ( with decoration ) on the creme colored case is a nice frill.
You can get 5 of these for less than the price of a single Mask1.
I take it there is a reduced throughput ( less expensive ) processor which brought down the specs rather than some artificial limit placed to differentiate the two.
This probably makes more sense than the Bitmasker
that was the earlier concept. I like that they spend the time in the lab, and let things evolve.
Off topic to this thread but there is an INFINI still kicking around somewhere. ( thread )
The tariff situation really fucking sucks. They estimate an additional $48 for US customers, but can’t promise for sure because they don’t know when Trump might increase tariffs.
Just ordered. I love mey Essence MK II and this should be great, as well.
Always wanted the Mask1, but price was too high for me, so this looks like a no-brainer, just wish they hadn’t veered away from the all white case. Really not into the illustrations and the open case design. Hopefully the sound a d interface should make me forget about these personal peeves.
That might only be on the limited edition, and different later ??
Yeah, that would make sense. Not sure I can wait though lol.
