Trying to do a track per patter or 2. What would be the best way to do this? Should I parameter lock samples per patter? Still wrapping my head around how things work and move inside of the device.
I use song mode and dont care about patterns
Going for a more tactile feel. Mutes, scenes, performance mode. Etc. would kits work with longer 2 bar - 4 bar loops? They change per pattern right?
I use banks for this purpose. They’re so easy to switch on the MKII. Press whichever bank button, then pattern 1. Then use patterns within each bank for different parts of your tracks. I find that easier to manage things. Whichever method you go for, just be sure to save a new kit for each - so easy to forget that part of the process and mess things up.
So far have only used about 4 patterns-per-track. I start off using banks, A1-A4 for track 1, B1-B4 for track 2, etc. And then, if there are more tracks, can use the banks again, but higher pattern numbers.
This all sounds very organised. In reality I have ideas/patterns spread all over a project, and only when I start to get a few ideas solidifying I back up the project, restore it to a new one, and cut all the other stuff out, and re-organise it into banks (as above.)
I do have one track that uses Song mode, mainly because I wanted the programmable mutes for that track.
Compared to other elektron devices, I have very few P-Locked sounds on AR, maybe because it has 12 tracks
