I soldered it and connected the cable to the power inlet of my Intellijel case which is the same voltage as the 0-coast. The other problem is that the width and the holes of the nuts are not aligned with eurorack modules (HP). For that i replaced the long aluminium bar with nut-holes (how do you call this?) with sliding nuts.
I alos tried this with the 0-ctrl, but that one is more picky for its power somehow. So it sits nicely in front of my rack.
well, I managed three months and thirteen days from selling my 0-coast* to buying a new** one.
All my attempts to avoid doing this failed spectacularly (NI Blocks, Volca Modular, sitting on my hands.)
only to fund something else admittedly.
** old.
Vague question for anyone that has a 1010 Blackbox too⦠I think I can probably take MIDI clock into the Blackbox, mess with the PPQ of itās analog out and use this to make the 0-coast Arp run at different tempos⦠anyone know if I am right?
0-Coast has a simple built in clock divider over midi. Accessed via Midi CCs iirc. It could be worth looking at the manual to see if that makes for an easier solution. (I donāt know Blackbox so canāt really help much with that)
I seem to remember this not doing what I wanted, but reading the manual again it is possible I just didnāt understand it properly (and also that I just had something else wired up that was confouding me) Will have to have a play when it gets here I guess!
just for completeness⦠and anyone else reading thisā¦
I seem to have the same issue I had last time, that is: I think the clock divider only divides whatever is coming into the TEMPO input not MIDI clock as it comes in. I guess you CAN get MIDI clock to there (From MIDI B maybe?)ā¦
BUT:
also, the Black Box thing does work - my black box is getting MIDI clock as well, and you can send analog sync out of it into the TEMPO input on the 0-Coast. Changing the PPQ on the Blackbox then lets you speed up the arp to⦠well, whatās quarter notes divided by 24? itās pretty fast anyway!
Hey everyone! Just got my 0-coast last week really really liking it so far kind of amazed actually some of the sounds you can get out of it. Anyone want to share some patches with me??
welcome. I love the 0-coast. Walker at Make Noise makes lots of really smart and funny videos about this. Theyāre a few years old but theyāre still great.
Question for everyone here that I actually also just ran intoā¦ā¦Iām playing with midi on a keystep 37 and when I get to about 3 octaves higher than my first c note the 0coast just repeats this octave over and over and wonāt go higher same with the low notes also 3 octaves. I was under the impression with midi it would track a little further than this? Is this normal behavior for the 0coast. I reached out to makenoise so I assume theyāll get back to me tomorrow.
I think this is just the range limit of the oscillator. You can shift the entire range up or down with the Pitch knob, but i think you only get 7 octaves regardless.
If you like the specific timbre of 0-Coast, I guess so.
But if youāre into ambient and drone, a high end knobby reverb such as Eventide Space would certainly give you more satisfaction.
Similarly Iād ask what your current workflow is and what part of 0-Coast do you find interesting?
If itās in addition to the Seashell and Elmyra I would think the voices of 0-Coast are not as useful as the modulations could beā¦
The difficult part is that if you have Seashell, then Iām guessing most of the effects and modulation are all ITB and you can likely already complete most things without ever purchasing anything new. Itās not just a cost thing, itās also likely easier keeping it all ITB.
Thank you for the response. I donāt have a well-defined workflow. I am on the earlier side of figuring things out. With the exception of presets, configuration, and stitching together a final piece, I avoid using computers. I am 100% hardware as far as sound design. I donāt own the Seashell or Elmyra 2, I watched others play the and liked the sounds they created. Iāll keep looking.
New 0-Coast user here. Is there a way to change/subdivide the tempo coming out from the CLK or Stepped Random Voltage output to be 16th notes vs quarter notes? I tried using MIDI CCs to change it as per the manual, which seems to suggest that sending MIDI CC 116 with a value of 16 might do this (Iām assuming based on how itās written), but Iām not getting any results.
Basically I want the clock to sync to the MIDI IN clock and then output to trigger a parameter such as Overtone or Multiply. Would be great it the random stepped wave could also sync to 16th notes to control those parameters. Thanks
