Hi! I have my MnM mk2 for 18 years now. I love it. But 18 years is like a lot. Do I have to make some maintenance work? Open, suck up some dusts? And what about the battery? Do I have to change it even if I don’t have any problem?
… and the same for machinedrum uw mk2 …

yes it’s a savage reality. first your notice the encoders start responding weirdly, you style it out but after while they’ll start glitching and/or autonomously moving. you’ve got to bite the bullet and swap them all out for new.
my md trig keys have recently start not triggering/double trigging. i’m pretending it’s fine, but you start missing keymutes and pattern transitions and realise a complete 16 tact switch replacement is unavoidable!
positive is after it’s done you should have another 10/20 years pleasant use, depending on how hard you rag the machine…

Actually, there are no problem. My question was therefore whether it was important to do preventative work or if it’s better to not touch a running system.
Ok. I’m pretending it’s fine, but, yeah, at times, strange behavior occurs. Such as the loss of memory for sounds linked to a pattern (so they are transformed into sines), or the inability, at certain times, to perform triggerless trigs (but normal trigs work fine). Or is it me who has used it too few during the last years?
Might be worth trying a soft reset if it’s less hardware wear and more memory unexpectedness. If you can back up and empty reset might solve these things. Might not.
TY! I’ll try this.
I have a dodgy encoder on my MM too, plus button no. 2 is a bit hit or miss. Would a squirt of contact cleaner help?
