usually i upgrade after xmas/new year holidays – but not this year.
everything works so far.
Great to know, thanks for sharing this info! If your 4Pre works fine on Tahoe, I’m comfortable upgrading to Sequoia.
…stilll on ventura…still fine…
I have a RME UFX3 use Ableton, plugins from FF, Unfiltered Audio, NI, Softube, TDR, Fors, and it all seems to work. The OS seems to glitch all the time though.
No major testing, but so far everything works (Ableton, Bitwig, Max, VCV Rack…)
Folks just an update here - ADAT is working after all, somehow during the update my 500R8 got its ADAT channels hidden. There’s a menu option in Audio MIDI Setup on macOS where you can choose channel amount along with sample rate. I’d much rather feel like a dummy assuming something was broken than the alternative and have something actually be broken. I’ve edited my initial post about it to be more about Tahoe in general.
For reference, here’s what had gotten changed somehow and why I wasn’t seeing the channels in Audio MIDI Setup. This dropdown. Not sure if it’s a new thing or if it used to default to showing every channel and now it doesn’t or what, but at least it’s not a big deal.
Shout out to Cranborne Audio Support for the heads up!
I purposely run older versions of Mac OS X and rarely update for these reasons. Plus many synths like my Virus won’t function on anything past Catalina.
I can’t imagine running an OS that doesn’t get security updates. Hopefully you don’t use it to log into anything!
no just for virus ti2 not internet
I reinstalled a lot of plugins / ableton / ilok / softube stuff tonight and it all seems ok … with basic testing
I only had issues installing a few native instruments things , I think they’re reaktor ensembles - trk-01 for example … I have a security and permissions issue - I added them to give full access ( as per instructions ) but no luck
Moogerfooger plugins were annoying as they’re vst-2 … ableton was hiding them by default .
Not convinced it’s worth installing - I end up keeping old style icons .
I’ve been noticing some weirdness with window focus changing apps; in some cases, it can take several clicks on its window to bring it to the front and take focus.
This might be a problem of firefox not releasing focus, not sure yet.
I recently ordered a second refurbished mac to use for my virus but it would not install the supported older OS so I return it. Anyways with Mystery Islands I can use new Mac with it.
I updated and holy moly is the UI gross.
I’m rolling back to macOS Sequoia, which was fine.
I usually push ahead with this stuff but Tahoe is just visually a bit of a mess.
You can use ‘old style’ ui , icons , screen saver etc . Get rid of all the new ‘liquid’ nonsense
How? It’s not even anything to do with ‘liquid’ for me, there are all sorts of other choices made that aren’t adding any value, it’s made the UI more noisy
the ui is tragic but I don’t see the point of not updating for that reason… I think they are pretty invested into it and at some point you’ll have to update so might as well get used to the crap sooner rather than later
Nah I rolled back already, much happier
Yeah Looks like I’m gonna be one of those dudes that stayed on Snow Leopard for 10 years lol
Yeah that’s my philosophy, just take the hit and get used to it. That said, this and iOS now resemble the cheapass rococo accents now plastered all over the oval office
