Machinedrum and monomachine gone forever!

For as long as they have parts, I guess.

Me every time Monomachine is mentioned since I missed out on the final stock.

I am furiously disappointed! So my 2 year project and meticulous sound design is over, as I had to sell my MnM. How would I keep on with my project? Second, third, fourth hand machine? Let’s face the actual reason for discontinuing them (especially the MnM) - everyone wants to produce cool stuff quickly. Monomachine is not for everyone - it is really for genuine sound designers… Horrible news, indeed - very, very frustrated!

Are you blaming Elektron because you got rid of your instrument? And they’re not keeping a spare for you?

Can’t believe you got rid of your MM ! You must have had serious need for the money…

Now this machine is getting a bit old, it was designed by people that no longer work for Elektron, and Elektron must have plans for the future…

Don’t get so mad, Radoslav : my MM is second hand and it works OK
You might find a good deal where you’re at.

Nahh, this is not true. They are still here :elmm: same goes for the developers of the MD :elmd: and the OT :elot:

Got a MM and been looking lustily at the MD since this news. I don’t need MIDI sequencing so the RYTM is a real alternative, and still available, so no real rush… UNLESS! Is the MD worth buying up now whilst I can still afford one?

My 2c…
Considering how long they were in production, I can’t imagine they will be too hard to track down for the next decade or two. Give it some time for the ‘end of production panic’ dramas to die down.

Bought a new MD in 2009, MM mk2 2nd hand in 2011, and they’re still working like new… the only quality issue I notice compared to my 2016 model rytm/a4’s is that the most used knobs now have a very very slight wobble (octatrack same syndrome, to be expected really after solid solid use), and a positive: that the black knobs don’t stain over time like the new grey ones. Never used ‘dust protectors’ or the like, just wipe them down with something on occasion. Point being, they are very well built and will stand the test of time.

ps. Send a bunch of :bouquet: & light a :candle: for the ‘geeky, vintage?’ square & rectangle buttons that were ditched. They are slightly bigger & more forgiving on drunken fingers, & CTR-ALL just wouldn’t feel the same in nipple form. :joy:

one of them is missing.

My bad I meant “some of them” no longer work for Elektron.
The :elmm: manual credits Teenage Engineering’s Jesper Kouthoofd for “INDUSTRIAL DESIGN".
I don’t think Jesper’s still working for Elektron (wish he was)

I really cannot understand why you think I decided ‘to get rid’ of it, Carl. Correct, LyingDalai, I had the serious need for the money! I must be really retarded to decide to sell it without any significant / shocking / immediate reason. Once purchased, such piece of gear is not supposed to be sold.

My main point is that Monomachine has a steep learning curve and that’s why it was so special (and underestimated). Daniel Troberg has recently told me: ‘Despite all this analogue hype, the Monomachime remains a real monster.’ And that is true!

You seem in pain, dear… The Monomachine you’ll end getting will give you one of these holy moments, I guess
Keep looking, and maybe start with a buy offer on this very website !
May be worth to wait for the next Elektron machine, though, especially if you’re short on money nowadays.
I wish you good luck pal.

not mine…

Sure. I’m not doubting your reasons. I have full respect for them and they are surely valid. I’m just finding it curios that you seem to be blaming Elektron for the fact that you can’t easily buy a new one. (Which I’m sure you can. The used market is probably still quite large. Maybe for the exact reasons you’re stating).

Hi there,

I’m just looking to hear from those of you who have ordered MD in the final countdown directly from Elektron and got some news or might the machine already. Bring me the light in the darkness that never ends! :bulb:

Cheers!

looks like ship dates for MD at musicians friend is now 7/29 ( was 7/7) (same dates for mono machine listed at guitar center). I wish Elektron would chime in with some info as to what is going on. a lot of us have been waiting for units for awhile now.

I have a strong feeling in about 2 months I’ll finally get a cancelation notice because elektron is not actually fulfilling those orders. if thats the case, I’ll be pretty frustrated with all companies involved.

If you ordered directly from elektron and have an order number underyour login details I think you are golden.

ordered from musicians friend, who said they ordered 35 units months ago. the date keeps slipping.
