M-vave fm-1

Yeh amazon has really turned into aliexpress with confusing multi listings, and drop shippers.

It’s the same with all the other ā€˜m-vave ’ products, there’s multiple random brands for the same devices.

Honestly don’t understand how this kind of production operates. Not sure who even came up with these product ideas

Saying it again : compared to Roland Compact Aira’s, I much prefer the playability and feel of keys, the screen / buttons combination makes it a much better UI for any firmware. Smaller is a plus for me, Bluetooth, speaker…
Apparently longer battery autonomy…

I think if one of these comes out with audio input so I can do custom sampler stuff with it I’d bite.

I don’t see it being that different at all in practice. You can make the distinction that a game is different than an OS, but for all intents and purposes, the user would be seeking the new OS in the same exact way they would a game; for the different experience that it provides.

I simply don’t quite understand this take. This isn’t an equivalency because this isn’t how games work today. And we’re already witnessing ā€œcross loadingā€ of systems with open sourced music instruments today.

I saw that some of these people are trying to charge for their custom firmware, or have licenses with ā€œyou may not modify or reuse thisā€ and that makes me absolutely livid.

That’s insane

I mean JJOS technically set a precedent here but still, this is just shameless

Of course, you’re right. It was an absurd joke about the competition about being cheaper than cheaper.
That being said… I hope M-Vave will make a Prophet-6-like, so I’ll take 64 of them. (<= it’s a joke again :wink: )

(Take a breath !) My comment was more about the feeling of missing an opportunity that only exists because people are so excited about an instrument I don’t need but I could take a dozen of it, and missing the opportunity of affording something more pricey but more interesting for me, JUST because it’s cheap AND everybody is ecstatic about it. (Take a breath !)
This is like I’m finally seeing the FOMO matrix.

Yeah that pisses me off, you didn’t anything but put in a prompt.

Even before new alternative firmwares, FM-1 seemed to be the most interesting compact hardware with 6 ops / 12 voices / DX7 compatible with full editing, USB midi and audio, internal battery, Bluetooth, speaker…

Anything more interesting with that size ? Only competitors I see is Volca Fm2, or PreenFm2 (no keys, no sequencer).
M8 ? No keys…

Apologies, it flew over my head I guess also because I feel like this expectation of Behringer has become so much the norm I didn’t think twice about taking it with a healthy dose of irony, even when obviously absurd :okej:

Well he does have a free version, he deserves to be paid for elevating the 1000 into another level. Stock vs JJOS is night and day difference and AI creating CFW and charging is too.

Imagine if Mwave made a sampler in the same form factor.

I’ve been following mvave for a while and I definitely think they are ahead of the competition by quite a bit. The fm1 is an insane value proposition, aside from all the new cfw stuff. If they keep it up with new releases, I can see them taking a huge chunk of the market. Especially if they seize this moment and embrace it.

Like, for reference… The ORC-1 came out less than a year ago or so, right? Imagine if that came out a week from now instead, and compare that price point and set of features vs an FM1 with the choralroot firmware.

Baudgirl also available on the keyboards that use the same chip now, interesting! Can’t post the link but check her website.

This has to be this generation’s 303?

Seems like this thing is a top seller at Juno and other places now, I don’t think it is unrealistic that this could up being one of the most successful electronic musical instruments of all time, don’t know about this generations 303, more like Microkorg due to the numbers involved.
