A talented musician and a truly compassionate person. Whatever the future brings we are grateful to call you a friend and I hope that in this space you will never be forgotten for your contributions to elektronauts and this community.
In this topic all positivity is welcomed but if you have a specific story of how LD made an impact on you or on your experience here, I think it would be appropriate to share that. After all, some people are not even aware of the impact they have had on us unless we say it directly.
LD and I had some time where we performed an unspoken negotiation over what constitutes humor in a meme and although there was a bit of back-and-forth on where to draw the line of what is funny vs what is acceptable, in the end I truly know what will make this person laugh and I think it helped them understand the place in my heart from where I’m delivering this steaming hot garbage (not a bad place, mind you).
At the end of the day, the quality of my memes did not improve very much, but I think that being able to understand each other a bit more helps people to feel at ease with one another.
Do we always agree? No. But if LD thinks something is not appropriate, I feel like I can accept that there is enough merit in that to analyze my own position and if I disagree enough to state my case, then I think that I’ll be fairly heard, and this is one of the key points for my own appreciation because while this person is a member here, they are also an administrator and listening to others is only an option, not a requirement.
It takes a very compassionate person to clean up the diapers but then also let the babies sit at the boardroom table when the decisions are made and not look at them for the contents of their soiled underpants.
This is such a person, and I am so grateful for that.
When LD retires their mod duties, no doubt I’m getting banned within a week.
The idea of their sad little face cleaning up the mess is the only thing that stops me going full cuntwad on these pricks.
It’s such a clever, decent way of moderating a forum, but also one that takes a serious emotional toll. I can’t pretend I’m not part of that weight that @LyingDalai has to carry, but I try not to be. Not because I don’t want to get banned, but because I don’t want to hurt my friend.
on topic, both @LyingDalai and @avantronica (or any other active mods) deserve a praise for keeping this place pretty balanced between seriousness and foolishness, the hate and slander towards mods is crazy sometimes.
you don’t like the place rules? there’s a fuckton other places for you can go to, you don’t have to be here, and definitely not to shit on the people keeping this place together.
cheers to the mods, I feel like you guys deserve a vacation from this place.
This is about appreciation in the present, not in wishing them farewell. I’m glad to see the display of support and hopefully LD is with us for a while still!
I don’t post here often, but your positive influence is immediately noticeable. Thanks for playing such a big part in fostering this really valuable community. It can’t be easy.
