Lower preview volume?

Hi,
I can’t seem to find a way to lower the preview volume while scrolling through presets via func+level, and as for live purposes I work with track volumes at 127 and very low amp, I have to turn down the all sound of the digitone to preview to avoid bursting my ear drums, which kind of defeat the purpose. Any help welcome

Hi, I don’t think that it’s ever been possible on either digitone to change the volume of presets when browsing them in the sound browser.

The workaround for you would be to set a dedicated track for browsing presets and set the level below your other track levels because the level of the active track impacts the preview level, you can easily switch the active track while the sound browser is still open, then load the sound to the desired track (at full volume) once active.

To be aware of: any effects settings currently applied to the active track (the one which you’re using to preview from) will audibly impact the preview of that preset, so if you don’t want that, dont preview from a track with active fx.

This is the only workaround that I can think of other than creating a feature request with elektron and waiting patiently, so hopefully you might be able to make use of this.

Maybe someone else has a better suggestion, we’ll see.

Cool, it works great for the preset volume. It’s perfect.
However, it doesn’t work with the volume of the drive samples, too bad.

On the digitakt the sample preview is as loud as the track level of the track that is selected. So try to turn down the track level of the selected track.

If you set a dedicated track to preview from, with a volume level which is set as desired, then it is effectively the same thing. Don’t overcomplicate the method, it will work fine. Once the sample is loaded to the project it’s quite easy to load that sample to any track.

Okay, I just understood why it’s better to take the time to load the samples into the project and avoid searching the drive while composing.

Thanks for these answers.

No problem at all!

Thanks for the help,
That has been my workaround for now but working with overbridge / external mixer deactivated it doesn’t quite help.
I guess the only option is to use a dedicated preview track with a routing to a DAW track with level lowered, which will work but seems like a lot of workaround.
Feature request incoming  thanks again!
