Been really having a lot of fun with the OT sequencer lately. It’s easily the most powerful sequencer of all the Elektron machines. Individual pattern lengths and speeds offer so much possibility and potential.
But the best feature of all for me right now is the Midi Arp sequencer and the ability to P-Lock it’s parameters. Speed, octave, notes, direction, transposition are all lockable which gives huge flexibility to create interesting patterns. It’s the only Elektron box that allows this and it rarely gets a mention.
So big love for this feature. Give it a try. Lots of fun to be had.
Hell yeah! I’ve been pulling some amazing, super organic twisty funky patterns out of my synths lately just p-locking this one page and using some lfos. Great stuff.
I use it frequently to create sequences on my synth, then record those sequences directly into the Octatrack for additional mayhem and audio chaos. It’s an amazing workflow enabled by the midi sequencer.
Talking about arpeggiator, I recently discovered you can activate/deactivate steps of the ARP with the trig buttons (while on ARP page), like on the MM.
This can lead to pretty impressive results. Not easy to tame, I must admit…
Don’t have the manual handy, but could you possibly sequence the Monomachine’s MIDI sequencer program change parameter using a CC from the Octatrack?
Also I love using the MM BBOX with the arpeggiator, endless fun
If you like using the Mono’s BBOX with the arp, I highly recommend picking up a Yamaha RM50, which is like the BBOX on steroids. Decent amount of CC control too, so you can throw down some p-locks and go nuts.

Ah, yeah, I used to have an RY30, that thing was amazing.
Love the Octatrack sequencer but would really love to see the following:
[1] Ability to add names for each of the midi seq CC knobs.
[2] Midi CC templates with ability to load independent of project file.
to both of these!
Yep, OT work flow would benefit so much from deeper ‘naming’ & template/presets options. Track. Lfo. Scene. Effect. Would be super convenient to be able to save/load these to/from some kind of global bank/library.
If only there were some kind of software package that could help with that.
OctaEdit is great. I know. But even when I buy it I’m still not going to have my laptop with me half the time I’m using OT. Internal solutions to some stuff wouldn’t go amiss…

Agreed.
Yes: Program Change messages are sent from the OT’s MIDI sequencer only when a pattern linked to another part becomes active.
But: If you activate ‘PROG CH SEND’ in the PROJECT > CONTROL > SYNC menu, the OT will send a Program Change message with the number of the new pattern every time you change pattern. You would have to map the receiving instrument’s response to the PC messages according to the OT’s pattern number.
Hmm, ok I’m not sure that would work as would involve rearranging Synth preset locations if I understand you correctly?
I did try with the prg ch send box ticked earlier but no joy so maybe there’s something I missed.
Thx peter I’ll try again, funny thing is I’ve got a track I wrote with a juno and it acts differently than the one I’m querying with a korg. . . I must be going mad.
