Loose Encoder

Hello all,

I have recently noticed that a couple of the encoders have started to feel a little lose, in that they wobble slightly. I had a look at the flickr teardown and they look pretty solid from inside the box so I wondered if there is an easy fix or if anyone else has noticed this?
It’s not too bad at the moment and the encoders seem to work as expected but its one of those annoying niggles especially as they are not all like that so you immediately feel the difference.

It (A4) hasn’t had much use… hours, not days and never in a live environment or anything close so I would be very surprised if it is down to wear.

Has anyone else come across this?

Thanks…

now there’s an excuse to post this: http://nightriderturbo.com

dunno, is it like worryingly wobbly or just little wobbly?
been using my AF a lot, the encoders’ feel definitely changes over time!
mostly the rotational friction will wear away with use…

I’d guess slight wobble is normal due to the encoders’s construction… they are quite safely secured with that metal plate inside though, you shouldn’t be able to lose them :joy:

Not on mine, but i have on my original Pulse+, not sure with either whether the encoder/pot is anchored thru the board - if it’s surface mount (big surprise) then worry - otherwise my Pulse has been fine for many many years with this wobble (not talking about dubstep)

ha ha… It’s not quite that bad yet void!

There is just some slight vertical play as you go to turn the encoder. I haven’t mentioned it yet to Elektron as I’m sure they are busy with other things!
It’s just annoying. I followed the threads about paint chipping etc.and compared to my mono machine which is built like a tank the A4, though definitely solid, feels not quite as bombproof as the mm so I thought it might just be one of those things…
I’ll monitor it and see how it goes…

One thing I did notice was that there seems to be a nut that fastens the encoders to the metal base so it might just be a case of tightening that…

Not sure if I want to start taking it apart quite yet though…
