Looks like tariffs are back on the menu boys

I looked for the old thread about tariffs but it seems to have been deleted (mods, please lmk if this isn’t appropriate for the Lounge).

Anyway the latest and greatest proposal is a 100% tariff on anything including semiconductors unless the company is committed to moving their manufacturing to the USA, which I guess most electronic music companies outside the US are not rushing to do.

I screenshotted rather than linking to the article because Blomberg is super-expensive subscription-only, and there didn’t seem to be much additional detail given than how new this brain fart is.

Edit: here’s a non-paywalled article, though as you can see it’s mostly just background context: Trump plans 100% tariff on computer chips, unless companies build in U.S.

It’s hella funny in a sad way to me thinking about old conservatives telling young punk me how I’d get more conservative when I got older because as time passes and I grow more grey and broken I cannot fathom any situation where I would start to think any single one of this administration’s positions is what the world needs.

he is definitely only doing this to further try to distract from him being all over the epstein files. there is no other reason for everything he does now.
